Here's what others have had to say about Saddlebrook Resort and Saddlebrook Tennis (Hopman).

  • 4-Ball Rating "Been to Four tennis resorts This was by far better than Kiawah or JW Palm Springs or one I went to in Tucson. Hard to communicate on reservations but coaching and participation were excellent. Tennis resorts are fickle. Sometimes their guest volume is down and boring and sometimes the pros are old and boring. It’s a great vacation."—L.H., Adv. Int., January 2023
  • 3½-Ball Rating "My husband and I spent four full days at Saddlebrook, playing 5 hours of tennis each day. We loved the level of instruction, the pace of clinics, and the overall tennis environment. I would do that part all over again in a heartbeat. The housing, on the other hand, left a whole lot to be desired. The room was not vacuumed, hairs in bathroom, and just overall broken down. Same with the resort. The hot tubs were peeling and pieces of the stone just floating in it. You can tell in its hay day it was a very nice resort but it appears as if there has been no upkeep in the 40+ years since it was built. That part was very disappointing as the housing isn’t cheap."—G.H., Int., January 2023
  • 4-Ball Rating "Great personalized instruction from knowledgeable instructors. They identified several areas where I have been able to improve my game. I plan to go there again. Accommodations need updating."—S.M., Adv. Int., December 2022
  • 4½-Ball Rating "We came with a group of 14 ladies. The courts and staff were great. Warren Adanas was fantastic because he gave constant feedback while we also hit a ton of balls. No stopping to discuss but learning as we played. He was also a great Uber driver in the evenings! Steve came around and added things too that were helpful corrections. Ben and Lorena at the bar were so friendly and attentive. We also had a great server in the mornings but I can’t remember her name, she had our meals ready the next day knowing we had to eat quickly. The only negative here is the rooms need updating. They are dated, and we had some key issues."—K.D., Low Int., November 2022
  • 4-Ball Rating "First, I want to say the entire staff we interacted with was friendly, helpful and great at their job. Specifically at breakfast, the servers, Lynn and another young lady on Monday morning were fabulous representatives for the resort. Again, friendly and helpful. Second, my husband and I were there for tennis camp. We were assigned Steve, Warren and Mark all who were amazing instructors. My husband spent the first afternoon with Steve and learned exactly what he needed and wanted to learn. I had the great opportunity to spend the day with Steve the second day and about an hour on our last morning at the resort. Steve gave me, hopefully, a winning strong topspin forehand, improved my backhand and volley shots. We’ll see how I do in the upcoming team match. All in all we had a great experience. We are looking forward to seeing the upgrades the new owners are planning for the resort."—A.Z., Adv. Int., October 2022
  • 4-Ball Rating "My second time at Saddlebrook! My partner and I worked with Steven and he was exceptional! Knows the game and tailors teaching to our level, lots of great drills that helped me internalize mechanics and shot construction. If you want things light and easy, Steven might not be the best for that, but I loved the intensity! Very rewarding experience. Overall great resort for tennis, but I wish there were more food options nearby (resort restaurant not the best)."—S.L., Int., October 2022
  • 4½-Ball Rating "Tennis camp was amazing. Went with 2 other friends so we had 2 pros for the 3 of us - Ed and Warren, and a 3rd pro Steve, popped in when he had a break. The pros were like doctors, diagnosing and fixing our bad habits. They also listened to what we wanted to work on, but still challenged us to learn new techniques. Ed and Warren were a great team; Ed was fast paced to help us learn to really move our feet more, and Warren slowed it down to work on mechanics of our swing and footwork. Steve stepped in from time to time for more demonstrations. You could really feel that these pros were passionate about teaching tennis. We had a lot of fun and a lot of good laughs with these guys! Definitely planning our next trip, but we want the same pros!"—A.K., Int., October 2022
  • 5-Ball Rating "I just got back from Saddlebrook Adult Tennis Camp. I went from a 4.0 to a 4.5 after 4 days of all day tennis instruction/play with Ed and Steve. Best instructors/pros I've ever had the privilege of playing with. Truly amazing experience."—K.M., Adv., September 2022

  • 3-Ball Rating "Saddlebrook Hopman is a great place if you want to work on your tennis skills. Steve and Ed were very technical and helpful in improving my game, and were teaching me all the things to move me from a 4.0 to 4.5 player. They were patient and proactive in letting me know my areas of improvement so I appreciate that! I love Warren's energy and fun-loving nature, a must when you are playing tennis 5 hours a day! The resort is going through a transition and needs some improvements. There was only 1 restaurant open for dinner and many of the amenities (e.g. game room, spa) were unavailable. If you can stick to the tennis aspect of your trip, Saddlebrook is fantastic!"—V.E., Adv. Int., September 2022
  • 4-Ball Rating "Tennis staff, pros and instruction are superb! We make this a yearly trip and 2022 was an outstanding tennis experience. Highlights were the phenomenal tennis pros, friendly atmosphere, and game changing instruction. Can't recommend it more highly for the tennis program. The resort was recently purchased, and the new management/managing company has deferred lodging maintenance. The rooms were inadequate... furniture was thread bare, and outdated; my bed was unstable and when I sat on the edge, fell to the ground as it tipped upward and sideways. The HVAC units were working, but loud and clanging in one bedroom to the extent that noise cancelling devices were required for sleeping. Housekeeping was poor; cleaning staff missed cleaning our room on more than one occasion. The pool area was adequate, but the hot tubs appeared filthy due to the lack of maintenance as well. Food and food service were good. Unfortunately, the spa was closed during our visit and as we understood it, would be for the foreseeable future. Go for the tennis program!"—D.G., Int., June 2022
  • 4½-Ball Rating "The tennis coach, Steve, was absolutely amazing! I attended a clinic with 3 of my friends and he tailored our training for our different levels. He provided a lot of individual feedback and had us repeat the strokes or drills until we did them correctly. That strategy of repetition was exactly what I needed to correct poor strokes and behaviors. I would highly recommend this tennis clinic with Steve. He’s not a drill sergeant by any means, rather he makes it so fun with his awesome sense of humor. There is a great relationship among all of the coaches, it seems. We are already planning our second visit for the fall! The only weakness is that the resort itself is in need of updating. Otherwise the tennis clinic, food, staff are all fantastic!"—A.M., Int., May 2022
  • 3½-Ball Rating "Four intermediate/advanced beginners had the privilege of drilling with Coach Steve Getchell on some very hot days in May. Steve provided superb doubles strategy and led excellent drills in all areas of tennis mechanics. He shared very helpful information on both tennis and the local area. Steve's instruction surpassed our expectations. The Front Desk Supervisor and Sports reservation manager, Stacey, was very helpful and attentive to our needs during our stay. We understand that the resort is now under new ownership and the staff view this as a positive move. All of the dining staff (Dempsey's Too, Tropics and the Poolside Bar) were very friendly and provided excellent service. The food portions were ample and good quality. Note that we did attend during the off-season, so the atmosphere was much more relaxed. The only change we would make in the future would be to share a suite with kitchen (regular rooms have no refrigerator)."—E.S., Adv. Int., May 2022
  • 4-Ball Rating "The pro's we had during our clinic were great. A special thank you word particular for our coach Mark, but also for Steve and Toni."—F.M., Int., May 2022
  • 5-Ball Rating "This resort is under new management who is (hopefully) bringing much needed facility, personnel and management upgrades to this dated property. While we had many issues with the resort and our reservations, the tennis instruction was top-notch and was a welcome distraction. Steve was an excellent instructor, and singlehandedly made the trip worthwhile. Our small group instruction was excellent, with plenty of special attention and drills that really improved our play quickly. Our improvement over the 2.5 days was noticeable, and we appreciated Steve's approach, his energy, and his tips - not only about tennis, but also restaurant recommendations and things to see in the wider Tampa area. We'd consider returning only for the instruction, and it was in large part due to Steve, Mark, Ed, and the rest of the staff who were all rockstars."—S.R.,  May 2022
  • 4½-Ball Rating "I’ve been to Saddlebrook twice in the past few months. The first time was with a group of 7 women and it was fantastic. Steve was our pro and we loved his instruction, drills and his high energy. We returned home with significant improvements to pieces of our tennis game. My second trip was solo and I had Ed for an instructor who was also excellent! Ed was able to provide advanced level instruction that was also a great cardio workout. Saddlebrook has hartru courts with ample shade and they provide towels and drinks. I highly recommend Saddlebrook Hopman Academy to anyone who is serious about lifting their game while having some fun along the way!"—E.D., Adv., May 2022
  • 4½-Ball Rating "We had a group of 8 ladies that went to Saddlebrook together for the doubles clinics. We absolutely loved the instruction. Steve was one of the two pros on two of our courts. He is an exceptional tennis instructor with a very unique style of teaching. I’ve been playing tennis for about 7 years and I have to say that he is one of the best instructors I’ve had. In addition, he is enthusiastic, energetic, and makes the clinics fun and engaging. He is the reason that I would return to Saddlebrook."—J.S., Adv. Int., May 2022
  • 5-Ball Rating "Steve Gessell was an amazing tennis pro. My group had the best time with him. Not only was he so knowledgeable and did drills with us that only helped our tennis games, he brought so much enthusiasm and energy. I can’t wait to plan another trip here!!"—C.F., Adv. Int., May 2022
  • 4-Ball Rating "The tennis program at saddlebrook was an awesome experience. The instruction and the structure was fantastic. The grounds are pretty, the accommodations need updating for certain. The spa was not available due to COVID restrictions. Hopefully, the resort will get remodeled because the tennis program is the absolute best! If you make arrangements to go, make sure to request coach Steve G. Observant and easily tweaks issues, all while making hard work fun!!!"—J.L., Int., May 2022
  • 4½-Ball Rating "This is a fantastic adult tennis camp! I have been multiple times and have done both one day clinics and multiple day clinics. The tennis pros I worked with, Bill and Steve, kept the day moving with a variety of drills and games. I got to hit a ton of balls with just the right amount of instruction. Thanks guys! I learned a lot and was exhausted by the end of the day. I will be back!"—P.D., Adv. Int., May 2022
  • 5-Ball Rating "I attended an awesome 1 day clinic with Bill and Steve at Saddlebrook. The instruction was top notch and the energy was on high. The afternoon doubles clinic was the highlight for me - so many great tips. I was beyond pleased with the Saddlebrook program."—D.S., Adv. Int., May 2022
  • 4-Ball Rating "Please note that I was informed that the resort is under new management, and they plan on repairs, and remodeling. I attended from 4/3 through 4/9, inclusive. It was not as good as in previous years. They used to have demonstrations at the beginning of each day with professionals on different strokes. Haven't seen that for several years. On Monday, my first day, there were a handful of people. That worked out very well for me as I had two days mostly with one on one teaching, but might not be what other people want. Dempsey's, a very good steakhouse, along with one of their sports bars, were closed. They said it was due to Covid. However, at all of the other indoor locations, no one was wearing a mask, not even the staff. If they closed their premiere restaurant due to Covid, you'd expect them to be masking up all over the place, regardless of their wacko governor. I suspect that it was due to a staff shortage. Along the same lines, I learned on the second day, when they didn't show up, that their housekeeping was a on a three days schedule. They showed up the next day, but I never saw housekeeping again. I was there for seven days. I had to take towels, and washcloths from the other bathroom in the room. I had to use several plastic bags for garbage. All they had to do was have them wear masks, and gloves, and even Dr. Fauci would have given his approval. Again, it was probably a personnel issue. I just hate being lied to. The room phone did not work. This, I found out, was due to wiring issues that I was told would be fixed with the renovations. I moved the phone to my bedroom, and it worked. This was great as that way I could use it for wake up calls. Out of the six days for which I requested a wake up call, I received two. They've always been good with that in the past. They no longer give you a credit card for about $240 for purchases made in the resort. They said that guests were losing the card. The paper card you get is used to charge things to your room, which are supposed to be deducted when you check out. I had to ask on the second day what the paper card was for. When I checked out, the purchases I made with the card were listed on my final invoice, but not deducted as they should have been. The person at the desk was thoughtful enough to say that he would not bill my card until these charges were credited. Three days later my credit card was charged for the amount that included the charges mentioned, with no credits. I certainly hope that new ownership helps them get their shit together for next year, or I'll be going somewhere else. I will say that the instructors earn their pay. They give their all in helping the guests improve their tennis game."—D.V., Adv. Int., April 2022

  • 4½-Ball Rating "I had an incredible experience at the Saddlebrook adult tennis camp. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and helped me improve my game a great deal in a short period of time. Larry in particular not only helped me improve my stroke technique, but taught me important strategies and put a massive smile on my face everyday. The resort itself had a beautiful pool area and delicious food. Resort management went out their way to help me with a challenging request."—J.M., Low Int., April 2020

  • 4-Ball Rating "We enjoyed 2 days of tennis clinics which were very motivational and fine tuning. Will was our instructor and he kept us moving and reinforcing our improvements. He also provided “mental tennis” inspiration. A very positive experience. He was exceptional and we were very lucky to have him as our tennis pro for our two days of tennis boot camp!!!"—P.L., Adv. Int., February 2020
  • 5-Ball Rating "We have enjoyed this place for about five years now and it remains our favorite vacation of the year! Gorgeous setting, phenomenal instructors, great facility. We have been to multiple camps and clinics across the East coast - and Saddlebrook has been the best instruction by far. Do expect great insight and adjustments to your game that you can take home and actually implement. I worked with Bill, Mehdi and Shawn and can’t say enough good things about them. My game has improved significantly in just 4 days. Everyone was very high energy and kept the players in my group engaged and moving. We had a great balance of learning, hitting many balls, and playing points. I come to this camp a lot and I am always amazed how many new things I learn. While I did the clinic my girlfriend played golf. There are two amazing golf courses in the resort. Also, the pool area is fabulous. Definitely try the Moscow Mule at the pool bar! The Dempsey’s steakhouse is a great place to have a nice dinner. Overall, very happy with our experience and looking forward to going back!"—S.S., Adv., February 2020
  • 5-Ball Rating "I am an avid tennis player and was really looking forward to this experience. The quality and intensity of this program totally exceeded my expectations. My coach Bill was great at giving me many helpful tips. At the same time he made us work really hard. Overall the staff went above and beyond to make sure everybody's experience was excellent. The pools, gym, spa, golf courses, restaurants on premises are amazing. I am going to make this an annual trip."—J.G., Adv., February 2020
  • 5-Ball Rating "Me and my boyfriend just came back from our trip to Saddlebrook. We had a great time! We really enjoyed the 5hr tennis clinic - very intense and you get great tips from the coaches. Our favorite coaches are Bill and Mehdi but all of the coaches are very knowledgable. Another great thing about Saddlebrook is that you are staying in a beautiful resort with stunning scenery. I highly recommend this tennis vacation. Can't wait for our next trip!"—Z.V., Adv., February 2020
  • 3½-Ball Rating "The coaches are great, the grounds are beautiful, and the suites are large. The food options at the resort aren't spectacular and it's mostly chain restaurants close by, so plan on grabbing some food on your way in so that you can stock up your room fridge. Also, if you play mixed doubles but aren't at the same level, be prepared to play on separate courts all week."—R.M., Int., January 2020
  • 4-Ball Rating "Two couples shared suite/villa and we really enjoyed it. Social tennis, golf, pool and nature trail were highlights. Food options were limited so we went off-site for one dinner."—P.S., Low Int., November 2019

  • 3-Ball Rating "4.0 pair of avid players went for a week of intense tennis instruction in October. We were very fortunate to have pro Mark Matthews, who had plenty of energy and insight for us. Mark made the 5-6 hours/day enjoyable and we both saw a bit of improvement in our games. Appparently October is a quiet time and the adult program was unfortunately very sparsely populated - just 2 other players at or above our level throughout the week. I supplemented with private lessons from Mark each day and they were excellent."—A.M., Adv. Int., October 2019
  • 3½-Ball Rating "Spent 3 days at The Hopman Camp at Saddlebrook in early 2019. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are friendly. Saddlebrook isn't the newest or fanciest resort on the planet but when it comes to the tennis grounds, it's unsurpassed. I did this trip solo as I've always wanted to spend a few days honing my tennis skills with as much focus on tennis as possible. I have to say I loved my time there. I did a camp on day 1, two private lessons on day 2, and camp on day 3. I'd recommend that format to anybody who is unsure of doing back to back days. They can be long, physically demanding days and waking up at 7am the next morning to do it all over again didn't sound fun to me. Instead, having a sleep in on day 2 with a couple of afternoon privates was the perfect 3 day tennis treat. Relaxing but still purposeful. Want to mention Will Rhame as his private lessons honestly changed my tennis game forever. His focus on the kinetic chain finally made all of my previous years of tennis lessons make sense. I'm using a number of his techniques now and I've moved from an okay 4.0 to a strong 4.5. Playing consistently at that level now has made tennis 1000x more fun. All of the instructors are great at Hopman and I'd recommend hitting with as many as you can. Each will give you invaluable advice. Enjoy your tennis!"—J.L., Adv. Int., September 2019
  • 5-Ball Rating "My family have been participating at the Saddlebrook Adult Tennis Camp for over twenty years. We often come one or two times every year playing 5 full days. If you are an avid tennis player beginner or advanced and want to improve your game, this is the place to go. The coaches are the best in this profession. They are will tailor their teaching methods to individuals and small groups no more than 4 on a court. We often have only one other player. Adult camp is year round. You can request for your favorite pro if he is available. Bill Heiser, Will Rhame and Mark Matthews are our favorite pros. Accommodations are good and convenient."—L.G., Adv., September 2019
  • 5-Ball Rating "I’ve visited for the 8 th year now... never disappoints... wonderful instruction... every year I realize how much better my game can be. I participated in two all-day sessions and one morning. You will leave feeling exhausted but refreshed at the same time... if that makes any sense- exhausted because you have put many hours of practice in, but refreshed due to all of the information you have acquired. The pros are wonderful and make you feel welcome and relaxed. I had the same pro for 3 sessions so I was able to build on what I had worked on the previous day. This is not always possible but I was lucky this time. Off court you can not go wrong lounging at the beautiful pool with a cocktail or iced tea... it’s the ultimate relaxing -no worries tennis vacation. Spa is on site as is Dempsey’s sports bar... Depending on the season, you may see the pros who use Saddlebrook as a training venue. I’ve never been lucky to run into the them, but John Isner trains here and has been sighted on the grounds from talking to other guests. It’s tennis paradise.. you can’t go wrong here."—C.R., Int., June 2019
  • 3½-Ball Rating "I was quite disappointed in my experience at Saddlebrook. I live in the Tampa Bay Area and had always wanted to try their camp so last month my out of town boyfriend flew in and we spent 3 days at the Hopman camp. Having attended tennis camp 5 times at New England Tennis in Vermont, I had high expectations for Saddlebrook. It was not at all what I expected. Our first day the highlight was the warm up prior to being assigned courts. Once we were on a court we spent the entire day with what amounted to a ball feeder. We burned a ton of calories but got zero instruction and learned nothing new. Absolutely nothing. All 4 of us on the court complained and so the second day we were assigned a different pro who appeared to be sent down from tennis heaven. Phil Shelton was simply phenomenal. We were tired mentally and physically from all the information and couldn’t wait to write down all the tips he shared. In the afternoon we had Shawn McGee because Phil had to coach a high school team who had made regionals. Shawn was also amazing and tons of fun. We were definitely happy our camp seemed to have taken a turn for the better. Our final day was even more disappointing than the first. My boyfriend and I who are both 3.5 and had requested to be on the same court were split up. I was livid. He flew 1000 miles to be in camp with me and we were placed with strangers. To make things worse, I was put on a court with a 2.5 man, a 4.0 woman who barely moved and a weak 3.5 woman who also could barely move. I didn’t walk off the court because it was a$220 day. We got rained out after an hour, had some impromptu indoor “doubles training” and returned to dry courts in the afternoon. Split up yet again, I was on the same court but my boyfriend ended up on the same court he was on in the am but with 3 new people. It turned out he was on the wrong court because court assignments only use first names and there were two with his name. He was on a 4.5 court as a 3.5. It appears no one noticed but me. Even the pro on my court said he must be a 4.5 if he was on that court. Hopman camp is in a beautiful setting and has a ton of nice courts. Beyond that they are disorganized and appear to be more concerned with taking your money than they are with making sure you have a good experience. No video taping, no structure or consistency from one court to another and clearly none between coaches and instruction. I will never return unless I’m guaranteed a specific pro on my court. They are clearly resting on the laurels of the Hopman name. Quite a disappointment. The listing above them in this website, New England Tennis Holidays, kicks their tennis camp ass. I will be returning to Vermont for 5 days this summer where I expect to once again experience what I truly consider an amazing tennis camp. Hopman, I doubt you’ll ever see me or my boyfriend again."—I.A., Int., May 2019

  • 4½-Ball Rating "I love Saddle Brook. I hadn't been for 10 years and just went back in March 2019. It's better than ever. It's all about playing tennis, eat and fall into bed!!!!"—D.V., Adv., April 2019
  • 4-Ball Rating "This is my third year in a row at Saddlebrook. My first year was great, second year had some issues, and this year was pretty good. Overall, it’s a great place to really get steeped in tennis, esp. versus Newcombe Ranch or Amelia Island. Strengths - One of the few places you can get 5 hours of tennis a day. - Large number of adults, so they can generally match each court of four evenly - Pros are all knowledgeable, and they do a good mix of technique, drills, and games. - You will get better with he repetition - Junior program is really really good (I had boys 10 and 12). Weaknesses - My main reason for a Saddlebrook is that it seems to have more players at the 4.5 level (like me). However, this time this wasn’t really the case, though the pro made up for it with some extra time. - They messed up my schedule the first day, though they did recover. Last year, they did the same thing and had no pro for us. I’d recommend making sure they are ready for you as it seems disorganized. - Rooms are really old and outdated, and not clean (in fact I killed a cockroach one day). It’s probably the worst hotel room I’ve stayed in since I’ve graduated college. You definitely go for the tennis not the rooms. - The food options are limited for dinner (and not that great), but the lunch at the pool cafe is excellent."—J.R., Adv., April 2019
  • 4-Ball Rating "I booked a two day stay at Saddlebrook for the tennis camps and wasn't sure what to expect. I arrived early that morning and mistakenly thought I could sign up on the spot. I was informed that classes were booked for the entire week so needless to say I was thoroughly dejected. However, the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The staff took down my number and said someone would contact me shortly. In the meantime Pete from the Pro Shop, with 30 years experience, gave me advice on strings, tension and even checked the tension of my racket free of charge. Pete also provided me with the new Rodger Federer Legacy balls in exchange for my feedback. A short time later, Tennis Director Shawn McGee greeted me, apologize for any confusion and delivered on his promise to make things right. The tennis camps were as advertised. The instructors were friendly, knowledgeable and kept things going at a steady pace. All participants were grouped according to skill level. The majority of the 40 plus courts were clay and well-maintained. Water, Gatorade and fruit were readily available where you trained. However, the highlight of my stay was the one-on-one instruction with Shawn McGee. In 5 minutes, (yes 5 minutes) Shawn had me hitting consistent shots with ease. He also dramatically improved my serve. Shawn simplified things which allowed me to focus on core fundamentals. I would highly recommend giving Saddlebrook a try. Personally, I look forward to returning."—P.T., Int., March 2019
  • 4-Ball Rating "Saddlebrook Resort's tennis getaway was so nuch fun. It was out of my comfort box to go away for a long tennis weekend with my friends (a few of them it was a repeat trip to Saddlebrook) -- Saddlebrook did not disappoint in any way. Having 2 full days of tennis (Saturday and Monday)- with Sunday as a down day-- was a perfect schedule for our group. We were challenged with our Pro Mark and Larry and learned some things we needed to work on to improve our game. The instruction was given in a positive manner. On our last day of the clinic-- we started getting confident in our skill improvements. To the point where one of our ladies said to our Pro Mark who was feeding us tennis balls-- "Is that the best you can do?" Lots of laughs for sure. All of us are in our 50's-- so no one was going to quit their day job and go on the tennis circuit. The instruction was geared to our skill level and our desire to play the best we can with a touch of fun competition. Definitely going back in 2020. Thank you, Saddlebrook."—I.B., Adv. • 4½-Ball Rating "I recently had great experience with Coach Will D. Rhame, my first 3 hours with Tennis!! I was very impressed with his style to proceed the coaching by maximizing my own natural inclination and reaction to the ball. He didn't teach me the posture 1-2-3, but he emphasized a lot on how to keep connected with the ball by eye tracking but also by mentally focus. I think it was extremely useful and I can even do a serve after this 3 hours. Greatest lesson ever! Thanks Will!"—D.W., Beg., March 2019
  • 4-Ball Rating "We were very fortunate to have Will Rhame as our coach for a three day, intensive clinic. His style of instruction was very logical and made a great deal of sense. His teaching style was very positive and encouraging. He makes very practical suggestions to allow you to understand the physics of tennis and his insight helps you to understand the reasoning behind his techniques.. As two long term USTA players who have experienced many different coaching styles, Will was by far the best. The resort was fine for a three day stay and I would highly recommend the tennis program for any level. If you’re lucky enough to spend your time with Will as your coach, you will come away with a renewed confidence in your game and appreciation of the skill and competence of a great teacher."—H.P., Adv. • 5-Ball Rating "I spent two glorious days in the Hopman tennis program at Saddlebrook. I've had many lessons over the past 10-15 years, but I came away from this experience thinking that it was the best ever -- most intensive, most individualized. My teacher both days was a young pro named Richard, who was just terrific. He broke strokes down into their component movements and weight shifts, explaining the underlying rationale every step of the way. Exactly what I needed! (I also got some excellent feedback from a pro named Juan.)"—D.M., Adv. Int., February 2019
  • 4-Ball Rating "Hank was our tennis pro and exhibited endless patience and good hunour. He was very good at intellectualizing and communicating the parts of strokes. We made great strides in our games in just two days!"—A.S., Int., February 2019
  • 4½-Ball Rating "Another week of great tennis at Saddlebrook! The instruction is excellent and as intense and active as you want. They go to all means to match player levels on court and to ensure you receive the instruction and challenge that you request. They provide group warm-ups both before the morning and afternoon sessions - these warm-up sessions are thorough and very effective. The rooms are slowly being upgraded so ask for a renovated room. After 12 years, we are still going back!"—K.R., Adv. Int., January 2019
  • 4-Ball Rating "I had a great time! My wife got me this for my birthday I flew down by myself the rooms are giant w a full kitchen and sitting area, get a car as you can go to the casino and to Berns steak house to eat. The tennis facilities are top notch. The instruction was perfect it has improved my game. I did all five hours for three days and it nearly killed me... Next time I may just do the mornings and enjoy myself. If you plan on doing the full days be in shape. I look forward to returning."—M.H., Adv. Int., January 2019
  • 5-Ball Rating "My friends and I just finished our five day visit at Saddlebrook with the Saddlebrook (Hopman) program. Our visit has exceeded our expectations. Our coaches (Coach Larry and Coach Will) are top notch. Not only did they provide great feedback with regard to our mechanics, they also helped us with the mental aspect of our game. Prior to our lesson each morning, Coach Will would ask one of the resident pros to provide us with a demonstration and encourage us to work on that during our lesson. All of the pros there are personable and made our experience fun. In addition to the Har-Tru courts, Saddlebrook also has Hard, Red Clay, and Grass courts as well. The friendly staff at the Pro Shop can assist with making reservations to play on those courts. The rest of the resorts is very nice. All of the staff are professional and hospitable and the pool and spa are nice. The restaurants have a great selection of foods. If you are in a mood for something different, Wal-Mart and other restaurants are just a mile or two away from the resort. Although our room is a bit dated, the beds are very comfortable. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Saddlebrook and will definite visit again in the future."—N.J., Adv., January 2019

He kept the lessons fun and fast paced. We just can't say enough about Will's professionalism and expertise!"—M.S., Int., January 2019
  • 4½-Ball Rating "I spent Thanksgiving weekend at the Saddlebrook Resort. I’m in my mid 50’s, and I started playing tennis when I was 40. I learned more during my weekend at the Saddlebrook Resort than I learned from years of taking lessons here and there with different coaches. I will definitely be back to continue improving my game."—H.M., Int., December 2018

  • 5-Ball Rating "I just spent two and half days at Saddlebrook/Hoppman and will definitely return. Our group was 4 men in their 50s who are 4.0 players. We had Will as an instructor for all three days. Will is a very positive, energetic and enthusiastic pro. He offered direct and simple instruction. He made the trip! With her simple service instruction I got 12 straight first serves in the box. Thanks will!"—M.S., Int., December 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating "The Saddlebrook tennis instruction is excellent. Our group spent two days with Will and learned tons about the game and had lots of fun while doing so. Though the tennis is intensive, this is not just for experienced players. The team of pros were just as committed to working with beginners and made everyone feel welcome and special. Highly recommend."—B.R., Adv. Int., November 2018

  • 5-Ball Rating "I was at junior summer tennis camp at Harry Hopman in Saddlebrook back in 80's. After all these years, I took lessons as an adult player and I must say, I thank them for a evergreen training method and intensity of tennis drills depends on your skill level. As for staff, from the director Mr. Howard Moore, who was there when I was a junior!, to coaches and people at the tennis shop are very professional and nice people. That being said, I would highly recommend this place for any ages, any experience level in tennis, becasue one thing I know is that you go home with much improved tennis and also great shape from all the trainings."—S.W., Adv. • 5-Ball Rating "The tennis experience at Saddlebrook is outstanding. Excellent tennis facility in a lovely setting. We attended the high performance clinics and the pros kept it fast paced and fun. They were great at zeroing in on exactly what we needed. Howard and Shawn run a great program. A must go experience. • 4-Ball Rating "I had a wonderful time and learned a lot. I had Coach Will and we started at the basics and worked the baseline, serve, volleys, drop shots, return serves. Coach Will gave me instructions that helped and terminology that I had not heard of before. I definitely came away I think improved but things to work on. I had an individual day lesson & I hope to come back again and would love to come back and have a lesson with 3 others to learn double strategy. I was disappointed in arriving at 7:50 and since I had to get up and 6:00 and leave the home at 6:30 and when I arrived I thought there would be at least a banana but no food the entire day, except for lunch time that I paid for my own lunch. The brochure and site says to include food and refreshments."—D.W., Int., September 2018
  • 4-Ball Rating "Just finished my second stint at Saddlebrook and the program continues to exceed my expectations. The pros are top notch. In about 2 hours, Shawn managed to fix my forehand and had me consistently hitting with top spin (which I've never been able to accomplish) and power. Will helped me develop my serve and got me to concentrate on keeping my eye on the ball, such that I feel confident in getting my first serve in, with power. I attended 5.5 days and have left a much better player than when I arrived. The secret to Saddlebrook's success is, I think, the flexibility and knowledge of the pros. The really good ones take different approaches that suit whomever they are teaching on any particular day and the just-good ones are still knowledgeable and can help tune your game. All of the pros there are personable and make your experience fun, and Howard (the director) is a friendly force of nature. I encourage everyone to stop in the Pro Shop and talk with Pete, the master racquet tech there. He set me up with several demo racquets, patiently answered my neophyte questions, and is just generally a warm and sharing guy. Also, shout out to Zack (Zach?) for teaching me about the physics behind different types of string. The rest of the resort is fine. All of the staff are professional and hospitable and the pool and spa are nice. As is mentioned elsewhere, the rooms are a bit dated and not as luxurious as you might expect. That being said, they all feature balconies or patios and the beds are comfy. I will continue to rave about the tennis program and encourage other players to check it out."—N.W., Low Int., September 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating "I am an intermediate player and had two full days of adult tennis camp with Will. He is an excellent instructor - patient, attentive and also very helpful in pointing my areas of improvement. Will is also very positive and helped players how to prepare themselves both physically and mentally for the game. Lastly, he's also an incredibly funny guy which made the whole experience incredibly fun and enjoyable for a recreational player like me. It was an extremely rewarding experience and I would definitely go again."—X.C., Low Int., August 2018
  • 5-Ball Rating "I came to the tennis academy for three straight years and had the best experience of my life. It's a small school, but the students become very close. We train together, hurt together, and have fun together. It doesn't take long to realize that these people become a second family, which you can always reach out to no matter what. The academics could be stronger, but if you're diligent about your work and understand that you need to prepare for college, you will do fine. In the long-run, this Saddlebrook family becomes a wide network of talented, hard-working, and culturally rounded people sprinkled all over the world. It's a gift. If you're a parent wondering if you would like to send your kid to Saddlebrook Prep, consider this... I believe that half of the responsibility of a parent is to develop roots for their children, instil great values at home. The other half of the responsibility is to give them wings, let them out of the house and experience the real world. Saddlebrook is an unbeatable experience for kids because they will be nurtured and given a solid program, but they will also have the chance to make their own choices, which is what will make them grow. Shout out to the teachers, coaching and resort staff."—J.Q., Adv., July 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating "Prior to the spring USTA spring season, I had the most amazing tennis experience of a lifetime and would highly recommend this tennis academy to those who are willing to grind it out to significantly improve their game. Howard the director has assembled the dream team of pros. Every pro is of the highest caliber and does one on one needs assessments to ensure they can help players achieve their specific goals. The combination of personalized attention, one on one coaching, skill drills, and live ball action helped me build my confidence and truly believe in myself. After five days of intensive training, I flew home and immediately applied my learnings to be a much more offensive minded player. My winning record has improved and my spring USTA combo team went to States . The pro, Will Rhame, whom I had the opportunity to work with the most made a significant and lasting impact on not only my technique, game, and footwork but more importantly my mindset. Before, during and after I play, I think about his advice and tips. Thus when I walk off the courts after giving it my all, I know he is proud and is my biggest fan regardless of the results of the day. I will definitely go back and would be honored to work with Will again. He has continued to support and encourage me throughout the summer USTA season. Winning record continues to improve and thanks to Will’s coaching, I will be going to States on 3 different summer including singles."—K.P., Low Int., July 2018

  • 5-Ball Rating "I've been to Saddlebrook on numerous occasions. Started out going as a "tag along" and while my husband was in the "tennis camp", I was enjoying the resort and taking an occasional 1 hour tennis lesson. Once I got involved in the 5 hour a day tennis camp, I was hooked. I loved what I was learning and recognized the difference the instruction was making for my tennis future. This year's trip was a bonus as a foursome from home made the trip together. Will - was our tennis coach and I was delighted to have his insights helping us immensely with the mental approach to the game. In a short amount of time he helped each of us with our strengths & weaknesses, along with improving our playing ability with a few precious tweeks to our racquet preparation, FOCUS, and competitive attitude. I found GREAT Value in his approach, it was just what I needed and is already making a difference. Everyone at Saddlebrook -- with Hopman Tennis and the Resort, went above and beyond in providing exceptional customer service. I look forward to the next trip to Saddlebrook!!!"—B.P., Int., June 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating "I am 67 years of age; this is my first tennis camp. My tennis friends from home asked if I would like to join them. I said I would try anything once. It has been such a good experience I will come back to Saddlebrook again! We were a group of 4. Our pro/coach was Will. He was the BEST! His drills and instruction were appropriate for our skill level and age! He addressed what we needed AND what we asked for. I liked that he spent time on the mental part of the tennis game. I left as a TENNIS WARRIOR! The only disappointing part of the trip was the weather; we arrived after Tropical Storm Alberto! We were literally washed out one afternoon! Howard, the tennis director, scheduled a rain check day while we were there. Weather did not always cooperate! Saddlbrook Resort is lovely. The site is luxurious! Staff was always friendly. Pete in the Tennis Pro Shop shared tricks to wrapping a grip. Ben at the outdoor sports bar/grill by the pool was attentive and always smiling! Food and service at TD Sports Bar was excellent. We did not go off site to eat the 5 days we were there. THANK YOU SADDLEBROOK!"—P.A., Int., June 2018
  • 3-Ball Rating "I attended the Hopman Tennis Program for 2 full days - 5 hours each day. We attended over Mother's Day weekend, which is after the "high season" so the weather was hot but not unbearable. This was my first ever tennis clinic so I went into this without any expectations. I have to say that I was very pleased with the tennis instruction that I received, the advice and tweaks that the pros provided and on a 'slow' day when there were only three attendees, we were each able to get a video analysis of all our strokes that really broke everything down for me on what I needed to work on. This is a no frills camp - their brochure was not up to date (no social gatherings or wine/cheese tastings). Because there was a threat of rain one of the days, we got our afternoon session done earlier - so the program is really accommodating to making sure you get your full day's worth. Although I have no complaints about the tennis program, the pros or the instruction I received, I do think the resort accommodations fell short. The rooms were dated with thin walls (why use an alarm clock when the baby next door can wake you), a hole in the bathroom ceiling and no fridge in the room. Housekeeping on weekends is more 'laid back.' Our room wasn't cleaned on Sunday until well AFTER our tennis was over and AFTER we decided to go to the spa to relax and take showers there. Also for guests that are obviously there for the tennis program, that begins at 7:50am, and early tee times, there was a lack of food available to you - from what we could find, only a breakfast buffet at $12 each (for continental) or $20 each (for continental + hot food). The coffee bar wasn't even opened to grab a quick bite, unbeknownst to the man working the front desk. Lunch was also very limited and service could sometimes be slow at Dempsey's. Also for a resort with a huge pool, the poolside cafe and pool bar closed remarkably early (on a Saturday night) and all food and drinks had to be ordered at the sports bar (so a walk and a wait before you can enjoy it all at your pool chair). I would go back for the tennis program in a heartbeat if it was detached from the resort. We were told upgrades are being made to rooms so if we do decide to go back, to ask for one of the updated rooms.. And again, this is no frills - you're going to play tennis...don't expect anything outside of that (although the spa was very nice)."—J.L., Int., May 2018
  • 4-Ball Rating "My wife and I showed up for 4 nights and 3 days - including 3 days of adult tennis camp. First time visit. Could not have been happier with the tennis and the instruction. Larger numbers of players each day. We had the same instructor (Will Rhame) for 5 of the six "sessions". We were both very happy with him and he added much to our games(me a 3.5, wife a 4.0). In fact for the first 3 sessions, it was just the 2 of us on a single court with Will. He kept his suggestions simple and did not try to make major changes. "Racquet back, watch the ball". Simple, but easily forgotten. On our last day, we had one player on our court who was not at the same level as other 3, which made it awkard, but was not horrible. The morning stretch with Larry is awesome an something that many adults ignore. Mostly, this was FUN. The entire staff was terrific. A much better experience than some resorts offer with a menu of clinics to sign up for. The tennis was everything we had hoped for and we will return. Howard Moore (the director) even bought us all drinks at the pool one afternoon!! We also were offered a (free) individual video analysis. As for the resort, it is a little tired and in serious need of a face lift. But the room was comfortable, the pool inviting, and the food adequate. Also, there are plenty of options off site for food and night life if one is interested. The poolside bartender was overwhelmed and a second person would be a huge upgrade. We ate breakfast and lunch in our room which saved time, energy, and $. A welcome break in the middle of 5 hours of tennis daily. It is too easy to dwell on the negatives, but our trip was fun, relaxing, and added to our tennis games and enjoyment. If one wants to ensure equal caliber of players for your level, bring a group for even more fun."—J.B., Int., May 2018

  • 4½-Ball Rating "I've gone to Saddlebrook for four years. This time stayed on site, in a deluxe room. Their accommodations get you reduced rates for the tennis, and they give a complimentary credit card worth $30 for each day of your stay. For me that was $180 to spend in the facility! I used to stay at a cheap hotel offsite. Not anymore. The tennis is well organized, with lots of court time, and very good instruction. I'm 4.5, but they are worth it for 3.0, and up, and for doubles teams as well. The women on the court next to me, who apparently played doubles against each other quite often, were so pleased by their lessons, that they requested the same instructor for the week."—D.V., Adv. • 4-Ball Rating "I just returned from a glorious 4 days at Saddlebrook Golf and Tennis Resort. The trip was organized by a good friend and fellow tennis addict. He and I have been playing for around 3 years and play at a 3.5-4.0 level. The facility was very well maintained, attractively landscaped and fully equipped with a full-service spa, humongous pool and solid restaurants in addition to the golf and tennis facilities. Despite its 30+ years the facility has held its age well and provided a scenic background to our tennis exploits. The rooms were clean, spacious and well appointed. The housekeeping staff did a great job including reading our notes and accommodating our requests consistently. The goal of our trip was simple, tennis, tennis and more tennis. We achieved our goal and more. I cannot emphasize enough how instrumental the Tennis Program Director, Howard Moore was in the realization of that goal. When we expressed some concerns about one of the trainers we had been assigned on our first day, Howard, stepped up to the plate and address our concerned by stepping in and training us himself until another trainer was available. Howard is a dynamic, charismatic personality with an obvious passion for the sport and his training program. His enthusiasm and energy are both endless and contagious. As a result you keep hitting, no matter how tired you are, hoping to absorb as much as you can, for yourself and for him. We had a great time and look forward to our next visit."—M.J., Int., May 2018
  • 5-Ball Rating "I spent a week at the Saddlebrook Resort outside of Tampa, FL, and I participated in 5 mornings and 4 afternoons of tennis clinics. We worked with Miguel throughout our time there and he was an outstanding coach who helped us develop a tennis weapon to use in our games. From time to time, we worked with other pros there, including head pro Howard. All the pros there were all very sharp, able to figure out which part of our games needed work almost immediately. They learned our skill level and tailored drills or recommendations to our games. I came out of the stay with a lot of stuff to work on, and upon returning I found that my game improved a lot. The clay courts also were very easy on the knees and body. I'm very glad I went."—T.M., Adv. Int., May 2018

However if you want you can just hit for 5 hours, but we go to learn, drill and get our butts in shape. The pros have so much fun with our group as we are eager to learn. We are headed back again in July. We cannot wait."—D.H., Int., May 2018

He taught to my skill level in a way that I could understand and implement changes straight away. He is incredibly knowledgeable and his teaching techniques are effective. He pushed me hard, but not so hard that I felt defeated. I left the training wanting more and wishing I could stay longer. A.j. Stilwell led our morning and afternoon stretches and also did a little demonstration each morning of the proper way to do backhand and forehand. He is amazing and truly impressive. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend Saddlebrook Tennis to anyone who is looking to improve their technique and game."—T.H., Int., May 2018
  • 5-Ball Rating "I spent 3 days at Saddlebrook in their intensive tennis clinics. I am a 4.5 rated female player and play 5 days a week throughout the year in various clinics/drills, lessons, leagues, USTA programs. I received some of the best instruction I have ever experienced at Saddlebrook. The morning and afternoon sessions start off with a series of stretches followed by a tip of the day (whether it be serves or lobs, etc.) Howard Moore the director, took the time to teach our group the first day as well as our last morning. He was one of the most impressive instructors I have worked with in the 20+ years I have played the sport. He specifically honed in on our technical skills and was quick to identify any areas of our game that needed work. He worked relentlessly with each one of us until he saw improvement. As an advanced player, my only criticism would be that the program pay closer to attention to the levels on the court. I had to ask to be switched to a higher level court two out of the three days that I was there. Luckily, I came down with a great group of women who play at the same level so we were able to be instructed together eventually. The courts were in impeccable condition The resort grounds were magnificent but haven't been updated since the 1980s and desperately need renovation which is coming later this year. The food options were limited for such a large resort but the quality was excellent. I had a great facial at the spa, but the masseuse I had was not trained to deal with muscle tightness from sports play which was very odd considering the intensive tennis program there. The hotel staff was very sparse, I had to wait for almost 30 minutes for a drink at the pool. The tennis program was the main draw for me and I can't wait to return for the tennis alone. Next time, I will be sure to ask for one of the updated rooms."—C.W., Adv., April 2018

'Aye yai yai', I can still hear it when I don't move my feet, thanks again coach Miguel. The Tennis shop is amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable such a pleasure you can tell they are passionate about tennis. The rooms are ok, they could use an upgrade, but with all the tennis I played the room was simply a place to rest my head, and the Spa was amazing, a must visit if you're going to be on the courts for a few days. All and All GREAT tennis facility for all levels."—M.R., Adv., April 2018

Our mornings started off with 3 hours of fast-pace drills, lunch break, then 2 hours more of tennis. Personally, I was exhausted (out of shape), but I loved the clinics and received both great instruction and a great workout from Coach Miguel. Erin in the Hopman office is fabulous, if you have any requests, questions, etc., she is your go to woman. Then there is The Howard Moore, director, social director, love all around go to guy. I would highly recommend the Saddlebrook Resort Hopman Tennis program and look forward to returning in the fall."—T.O., Low Int., April 2018
  • 4-Ball Rating "Came to the resort in mid-March 2018 for the 5-day tennis program. We were worried that we might struggle to complete 25 hours of tennis instruction over 5 days, but were pleasantly surprised that we all survived, and occasionally thrived, during the program. The teaching staff were great (thanks Marc and Larry!) and helped us to go from "hitting shots" to "hitting spots". The clay courts were easy on the joints, and we were teamed up with players who were at our level. The morning dynamic warm up and stretch were fun (yes, fun), and the demonstrations were inspirational. Occasionally, we ran out of water/gatoraide during the day, and a few times, the fruit truck failed to come, but these were the only inconveniences that we experienced. I would totally recommend this camp for anyone who wants to take their game to the next level."—K.H., Adv. Int., April 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating "The tennis program is AMAZING!!! The ratios of players to pros is ideal (4:1) allowing the pro to focus on individual needs. We did 2.5 days and wished we could have done more! The tennis personal are extremely nice and customer satisfaction is very important. The resort grounds are beautiful! It is isolated so renting a car is a good idea. We used Uber to get around, but it adds up fast. There are only three restaurants on the resort and the food is very limited. We found the poolside to have the best service and food. Vegetarian options are VERY limited. The rooms are clean and spacious, although very dated. Bottom line, I would return because the tennis program is so good."—M.R., Int., April 2018

The format is very well thought out: 10 min stretch and warm up, stroke of the day demonstration, 3 hours of play, lunch break, then another 2 hours of play. Every member of the tennis teach staff are attentive and eager to pass on any tips that they feel might help your game. This year especially it had a very positive and upbeat vibe. I have been there several times over the years, and during each visit the pros focus on what will lead to improvements in my particular game and strokes. They clearly explain in a very understandable way the reason behind why to change a stroke or maybe something to add. I like that they don't make huge changes in my strokes, instead focusing on what is going to lead to significant stroke and game improvements specific to me. And that gets me feeling excited and looking forward to working on my game and having even more fun playing."—R.M., Adv. Int., April 2018

Spent five days hitting thousands of tennis balls with excellent players with never more than four players to a court. The tennis staff is exceptional and extremely knowledgeable (had the opportunity to work with several instructors) providing tons of insights and instructional guidance throughout the week. All the tennis instructors had a wealth of playing experience at the top college level and beyond, but also had years of experience coaching. The drills were very intense and well structured. All the instructors worked to the common goal of improving my game and taking it to the next level - which they did. This is a great tennis program for anyone looking to make big jumps in their game. Look forward to coming back real soon."—P.K., Adv., April 2018

Yet our child, a competitive tennis player, absolutely adored the tennis program (especially the coaches) and insisted that we go back for our next Holiday. WHAT ELSE CAN YOU ASK FOR? Thus, a few months later, we were back at Saddlebrook and the experience was even better. We can't post a review on Saddlebrook without mentionning Peter, the erudite & humble stringer, who, simply put, is a really nice person."—K.L.,  April 2018
  • 5-Ball Rating "We just completed five days at Saddlebrook Tennis Camp - parents and teenage daughter. We loved it! The pros were energetic, insightful, candid, and effective; and they made the five hours per day on court FUN! Yes, we were sore at night, but the pool and the hot tub helped the muscles rejuvenate. Our tennis game improved significantly in those 5 days. The overall resort facilities are well-maintained. The courts played beautifully, restaurants very good, nature trails interesting, accommodations comfortable. And there is plenty to do in the surrounding area as far as shopping, etc. We will definitely go back and do it again!"—S.A., Adv. Int., March 2018

Our tennis coach AJ Stilwell was not only a very skilled tennis professional with tons of energy to teach and attention to detail but also so much fun to practice and learn with! He made teaching so much fun! I highly recommend this tennis resort and coach AJ!"—S.T., Int., March 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating "I recently stayed at Saddlebrook for a weekend with my friend and our daughters. My friend and I are 3.5-4.0 tennis players. We both had an amazing experience. My first day I had Miguel as my instructor for the morning session. He gave me excellent tips and taught us with fun drills. The next two days we had Mark as our instructor for both the morning and afternoon sessions. Mark was fabulous. Mark went out of his way to make sure we had competitive players in our group. His drills were fast paced and challenged our skills. We both loved his drills and excellent, practical tips. I had asked to be videotaped and when they were short with instructors who could videotape us (because the camp was full), Mark offered to use our phones to videoptape our play. This is just one example of how accommodating he was to us. We thoroughly enjoyed his company while learning more about how to improve our tennis. We can’t wait to go back next year."—L.K., Adv., March 2018
  • 4-Ball Rating "This was the ideal spring break for our family. The tennis program was amazing because it catered to each leveleach person’s level. I played in a group with a pro named Larry. Larry explained things effectively and clearly is skilled and passionate about teaching. He really identified problem areas in each individuals strokes and game, and timed and chose drills so that everyone was working to strengthen shots and improve weaknesses. He was constantly reinforcing what he was teaching and has an unbelievable sense of humor. The hours flew by as I felt myself improving every day. I laughed and enjoyed myself more than I could have imagined, and knew my kids were getting great instruction on a court nearby during the same hours. It was perfect!"—A.B., Int., March 2018

The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable."—N.B., Adv. Int., March 2018

  • 5-Ball Rating "First time visitor. Signed up for 2 days of camp mon-tuesday with my daughter who got sick Monday morning. The staff was very understanding and let us make up the lost Monday AM Wednesday morning without any extra charge. It was a problem for them because the threesome I had been drilling and playing points with had 4 scheduled that day. Instead of having a 5-some the whole morning, they set me up and another straggler for a semi-private lesson with the head of instruction (Howard). The session was terrific! He fixed my forehand in about 10 minutes (struggled with it Mon-Tuesday) and then drilled it for the remainder of the morning to lock it in. Very classy, very knowledgable, and most importantly, enthusiastic. Had a terrific time and for someone who is getting back into the game after a couple of decades, just what the doctor ordered. The courts are first-rate and well maintained. Will be returning home feeling a lot better about my game (once I get over the soreness!)"—E.S., Adv., March 2018

I never had more than two other people in my Tennis clinic with me which was nice because I felt like I still got a lot of one on one time woth the pro! I was really wanting to improve my forehand and I feel that the pros were very successful at connecting with me on changing some things that needed to be changed! Over all everyone was happy and excited to be playing and teaching tennis! Very positive vibe! I feel as though what I learned at Saddlebrook Tennis was very beneficial to my tennis game!! The program director went out of his way to make sure I was having a great time and asked if there was ever anything he could do for me to let him know! He was very good about knowing which tennis group to place me in based on my personality and Tennis level! We would definitely go back for the Tennis! We were not pleased with the resort at all and it needs a major renovation. It is very dated but I want to be clear this is totally seperate from the tennis and the opinion I have for the Tennis which was excellent!"—R.M., Int., March 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating "Christmas Week 2017: My husband and I attended 4.5 days of adult tennis camp. It was the best experience we have had at Saddlebrook yet, after many years of visits. The quality and variety of instruction was excellent. Each of us had at least 6 instructors for several hours each. There was a uniformity to the skills and styles they taught, but each had their own way of talking and teaching. So we were able to find the ones that really resonated with us, but also I found that every one of the sessions was informative and sometimes transformative. Howard Moore and his crew worked hard to comprise compatible groups of players. They moved people in and out of groups to keep the levels even and when we found a sympathetic group we were allowed to keep it intact for a couple of days. This made for a lot of fun and trust among us and we learned even more as a tight-knit group. Some sessions were geared to maximize the skills we had, and some were focused on pushing us outside our level and demanding a higher level of performance than I thought I could produce. There were plenty of hours of tennis. The accommodations were good. They are not super luxurious . On the other hand, I worked so hard at tennis camp, that luxurious would have been lost on me. I wanted a good meal next to the pool, a massage and sauna, and a comfortable bed, pleasant surroundings, fun bar scene, cheerful, well-appointed apartment. The apartments are clean, neat, well-equipped and the resort staff helpful and responsive. My opinion is that Saddlebrook is a very excellent combination of lovely landscaped grounds, fabulous pools, good family vacation, good couples getaway with lots to do and a safe haven for singles who want to have a great time, not feel isolated, and play great tennis. I think Saddlebrook has a good formula and they execute it well. My husband and I will return again soon."—G.M., Adv., March 2018

Coupled with the established team like Shawn and Howard, their caliber of coaching is outstanding. Stringing service is improved including a great racquet tech guy. • "Thr grounds are beautiful and the staff was very cordial. The room was below par for a resort of this quality and cost. It was old and not updated in years. There was NO hot water even though we call ed several times and workmen worked hrs the first night after we had all showered in cool water. BUT the next day after supposedly fixed it --the showers were freezing cold. This is after 5 hrs of tennis drills. We were all very upset . We reported it again at the desk at check out too. I find this totally unacceptable after paying high 5 star prices for this sort of accommodation. Also there was a fish hook stuck in the carpeting and one guest caught his sock on it. We called and a service person came with pliers to try and rip it out of the carpet. Again is this 5 star quality? The pool was great the staff there was super especially Ben. The tennis was fun and organized and a great experience with AJ and Jeff.( who kept us busy interested and excited) These two men worked the 8 of us very hard with drills fun and new tennis experiences. I have been playing every day since this and have used some new skills I learned while there. I thank these two guys for their patience and competent teaching ability. They were excellent players and terrific instructors. The food was pricey but we expected that and there were 4 places to eat so we didn't need to leave the area."—R.B., Int., March 2018

I have had other coaches and he filled all my needs at the tennis camp. Thoroughly the best coach for me. The rooms were spacious and were comfortable, the only weakness was that our room didn't have any hot water for showers. They did come and fix it the first day however by the last day we had cold water again."—R.P., Int., March 2018

My friends and I are already talking about plans to go back next year. Howard runs a great program. Larry is one of the best instructors we have ever had. My friends and I are excited to start playing once we get home, so we can use all that we learned over the 3 full days of tennis instruciton we had. If I have to give a negative, it has nothing to do with with the tennis program, but the variety of food options. We like staying at the resort and a few more food options would be nice. Best bang for the buck around !!!"—C.F., Adv. Int., March 2018
  • 4-Ball Rating "Eight of us players participated in the two day instruction. Larry did a great job with the video review. AJ And Jeff where our instructors for the two days and let us through grueling drills. The courts we took instruction on where in excellent shape. The resort, does need some updating. Our Accommodations, while spacious, head operational issues. For instance hot water with inconsistent. The staff on the property did an excellent job and we also enjoyed the food we had in the restaurant in the bar. I would highly recommend this resort for serious tennis players."—A.M., Int., March 2018
  • 4-Ball Rating "Overall good tennis program - areas of improvement - allow for a mix of 3 hr programs. Your older tennis players need more time to recover. More focus on video before and after a few lessons. Objective is to find technical weaknesses - recommend improvements - spend time instilling the new changes - then video tape to see if the changes have been learnt. This is also good for review when we get back home."—D.L., Adv. Int., March 2018

  • 4-Ball Rating "Had an excellent 2-day tennis camp at Saddlebrook recently, my 2nd visit. Anyone who loves the sport, wants to work on his/her game or just get to hit a lot of balls, will not be disappointed with the tennis experience delivered by the team at Saddlebrook and Howard Moore, in particular. The program runs like a well oiled machine but there is as much personal attention as you request. At the opening of each session there is a stroke demonstration that consistently includes detail and nuance that those looking to develop their game can work on incorporating right away. While the style of instruction varies between instructors, each was very knowledgeable and capable of quickly identifying ways to improve stroke mechanics and game tactics. While I loved my time on the court which surpasses any other tennis programs I have attended, what I appreciate most is the welcoming hospitality and service. When making my reservation, I was connected with Howard Moore (the program director) and described the experience I was looking for myself and 15 year old son who is a beginner. Upon arriving the following week, Howard had a plan in place for my son and checked in on both of us frequently to see how it was going. Any request we had was met with a desire to be accommodating and ensure we had an enjoyable experience that delivered what we were hoping to get out of the trip. Each instructor we worked with also took a personal interest in my son's development and were not simply going through the motions. Noting my son's preparation for a high school tennis team tryout, we were paired with Larry for a 1 hour session which was the most densely packed hour of practical tennis instruction I have ever had. It was a complete review of all strokes full of tips that I have taken away for future practice. We can't wait to go back."—C.Y., Adv. Int., February 2018

We had a different pro each day. Both Juan and Mark quickly assessed our strengths/weaknesses and taught us skills to improve placement, net play and serves. We have already booked our trip for next year. We had no complaints about the rooms - very clean, beautiful views and customer service great throughout the resort."—J.M., Int., February 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating "This is an amazing program! Eight of us (USTA 3.5/4.0) traveled to Wesley Chapel to attend the Hopman Tennis Academy and were absolutely blown away by the quality of instruction and care given to our group. Howard Moore and his team (AJ, Tye and Tyler) took a great deal of care in understanding our goals and tailored a tennis program that was technically challenging, entertaining and impactful to all who attended. From the morning stretch to the daily tennis instruction to evening meals, Howard is a hands-on manager who engaged our group and participated throughout our stay with level of customer service comparable to what I have received at the Ritz Carlton. The technical program focused on the whole game and pushed each of us to become better players by the end of our stay. If you love tennis, and are serious about improving, I would highly recommend this top-shelf program."—P.P., Adv. Int., February 2018

  • 4½-Ball Rating "Saddlebrook Tennis Resort is the best place to improve your game in a few days. With morning and afternoon sessions, never more than a one to four ratio (teacher to students), and an emphasis on “it takes a court to improve a player” attitude, the opportunity to improve your tennis is guaranteed. I am especially fond of the teaching pro Larry - he works you hard while giving you great mnemonic phrases which help you remember his advice long after the lesson is over."—A.S., Low Int., February 2018

Phillip was with us each day and he provided terriffic instruction and his enthusiasm and positive energy were evident from the first minute through the thirteenth hour of play. I also received great advice on stringing from the Zach and Peter in the pro shop and they restrung my racquet for me on the spot. Tai, a top expert, roamed the courts giving individualized attention to each participant. Both Jeff and Tai gave me many tips to help me improve my game, plus pointing out my strength—my serve and showing how I could improve that as well. Just like any school or business depends on leadership and professionalism, the same goes for the Hopman Tennis Camp. Howard Moore was able to create a program in which any student was treated and taught the exact same way as a professional tennis player. Him and his staff are capable of delivering the best teaching techniques which bring progress and improvement to anyone's level. This camp really boosted my confidence on the tennis court. I really recommend this tennis program to anyone who think of tennis as being an important part of their life!!!"—T.G., Adv., January 2018
  • 2½-Ball Rating "I would not recommend this camp if you are an advanced player. You have to take charge of your destiny. They will let you linger in a group that is SIGNIFICANTLY below your level and if you don't say anything, they will let it continue. That is irresponsible. They do switch, once you flag. You switch pros every 30 min or so - which can be good or bad. Their advice seems a bit canned. At my level, it's typically not a quick fix, so stop pretending there is a magic bullet. Also, at Christmas they do not have enough pros. I played 'match play' for 2.5 - 3 hrs of the 5 hour day. I can arrange my own matches. Don't need to come to camp for that. There are some good pros, like Larry, who are fun and give solid advice. In fact, most of the pros seem strong, just not enough of them. Spa is nice. Food at resort is expensive and service is really unprofessional and sub par. Bottom line - go somewhere else if you are 4.5+. Total Rennis, for example, is much better - and much cheaper. This is my second time at this camp. Would NOT come again."—P.H., Adv., December 2017

Saddlebrook is a huge complex, numerous tennis courts, beautiful grounds and golf courses all around. The pool lies at the center of the resort, immense, with two whirlpool baths aside. The room we had was oldish style but very clean and comfortable. The few restaurants where good, lots of fresh salads and healthy meals. We came for the tennis camp and it completely filled our expectations: small groups (1-4pers per coach), excellent and thorough teaching, very knowledgable and committed coaches teaching to all levels of players. The five hours where intense but so much fun and interesting that it passed quickly, never painfully due to the great variety of drills and plays dispensed by coaches. We had the great pleasure (honor) to spend time with Howard Moore, the head coach who's love for tennis teaching is compelling and inspiring. I spent most of the week with Larry, my husband with Phil and we were both very satisfied by their approach to lead us into the game, the understanding of tactics as well as technique itself. Thank you fondly to all the staff of Hopman program!!!"—E.B., Int., December 2017
  • 4-Ball Rating "I went to the Saddlebrook Resort with my husband and another couple for the Hopman tennis program. The only weakness with the tennis program is the resort accommodations. The rooms are outdated probably 30-40 years old. The property was very large and beautiful. They have a large pool for families and an adult pool. To use the adult pool you need to walk over to the regular pool just for towels. There is zero service at the adult pool let alone even something to eat. The main pool has a poolside cafe and bar but no service walking around. However, the purpose of our trip was for the Tennis. The tennis program is EXCELLENT. Howard the director looked to make sure we were happy. I must add the first day I was placed with two players weaker than me and nobody thought to change me out. . I spoke with Howard and the last two days were challenging and extremely beneficial. I had a different pro all three days. The first day was with a weaker group, The second day was Bentley who was excellent and the third day Bentley was not there so Howard worked with me. I had 4:1 day one. 4:1 half day second day and the afternoon session was 2:1 and the same the third day. They worked on improving our strokes, our game technique, placement, worked on "modern tennis" and much more. The 5 hours a day was perfect. The entire staff there just aims to please. I would definitely revisit for amazing tennis."—T.R., Adv. Int., November 2017

The hotel is a little tired but more than adequate and the rooms are inexpensive compared to "fancier" resorts. The tennis is great. The only variable is the teaching, which is true of any place where you are assigned to a pro. Like most places it is best for the 3-0 player or the 4-5 player. If you are 3-5 or 4-0 you may get put with a 3-0 level group which can be demoralizing. I happened to have great pro and a great group and it was terrific. Howard is very “hands on” leading daily calisthenics, jumping in to offer one on one instruction, & ensuring guests are fully satisfied with their experience. One of the program’s strengths is working with the same pro through out our entire stay (other than if they have a scheduled day off) which enables them to really understand & work with our specific needs. Phil was committed & focused on working with us to bring our game to a higher level- while having a great sense of humor. Saddlebrook Resort offers great amenities including a lovely spa to pamper your aching body, a very nice pool, & very good restaurants. • 5-Ball Rating "Let me just start off by saying that Saddlebrook Resort is the best tennis vacation I have taken in my life!!!! It all started from the moment I booked my reservation. I spoke with a very polite and knowledgeable gentleman named Giancarlo. He helped me set up everything on my reservation from room and tennis, all the way down to the transportation I needed to and from the resort. He will help you book the best and most affordable package that fits you perfectly. I had spoken to other people in the reservations department but none of them had the same "touch" as Mr. Giancarlo did. If you need to book a reservation don't waste your time and ASK FOR HIM DIRECTLY! When I arrived at the resort, everyone was very pleasant and polite. At the front desk I was greeted by Ms. Katie who made the whole check-in process simple and very informative. She gave me all the information on where I should report in the morning for the tennis, and what other amenities the resort had to offer. From there I went up to my room, that by the way had everything I had requested (Thanks to Mr. Giancarlo again) and even had a personal note from the Hopman Staff and basket of fresh fruit! The next day I started, what I consider the best tennis training I have received in my life. During my stay I had either Coach Ty or Coach Phil everyday. Coach Ty is very knowledgeable and helped me fixed little thing in my game that made a huge difference at the end. Coach Phil is also very knowledgeable, but with him you receive an extra personal trainer that pushes you on, and like he tell you on the court, makes you "MOVE YOUR BUTT"!! A special thanks to both of them for making this experience so good and memorable. Request them as your coaches and you will not be disappointed! At the resort, I also had the pleasure to meet the Tennis Director, Mr. Howard Moore. Just a little warning on him, he can sometimes sound a little "too excited" but if you really do listen to him you will learn a lot and he does genuinely cares about the tennis experience you are receiving at the resort. Again a special thanks to Giancarlo, Katie, Ty, Phil, and Howard for making this experience so enjoyable. Overall I could not ask for a better tennis vacation!"—R.D., Adv., June 2017

The organization of the instructional groups, ability to coordinate instruction for multiple levels of play, and staffing were excellent. Camp was run on Har-Tru courts, which was an excellent amenity over hard courts. Healthy snacks, water, and Gatorade were available court side at all times. My personal experience showed an instructor (Howard) with the ability to diversify lessons to accommodate multiple levels of play within the same group. My husband was moved between groups during our two day stay because his level of play was higher than he initially reported. His instructor was able to note that, report it back to the office, and have him properly assigned for his next camp session. The kid's program (non-tennis) is fine, but quite unstructured. The kids do not have a set agenda, so parents do not know where to find them during the day without asking the pool desk. On a VERY strong note, if your child is the only child in camp on a given day, she/he will be allowed to dictate his/her own schedule (or you can suggest) and will receive one-on-one attention without an increase in price. Food options on-site are limited, and the main restaurant is very expensive. The food was quite good, however. There were a variety of kid's options on a separate kid menu."—R.C., Int., June 2017
  • 5-Ball Rating "Outstanding tennis coaching. My family and I were at Saddlebrook in April. • 5-Ball Rating "Outstanding tennis instruction in a great setting. Disciplined, hardworking and committed pros who work hard with you in small groups 2-3 for 5 hours a day. A great way to improve your game and they do it with enthusiasm and a sense of humor. A good place for for young children to either start playing the game or continue if they are already playing. Strengths - Nested in a resort setting and lots of green space - Very high quality instruction - Excellent tennis facilities ( clay courts) - Accommodation in condos with full kitchens - Well managed Weaknesses - None noted. We are repeat visitors"—D.N., Adv. Int., May 2017
  • 5-Ball Rating "The camp was fantastic with focused instruction and variety in the drills. The weather was so nice and I had so much fun my body sort of broke down a bit towards the end of the week. Lots of liquids were provided each day to stay hydrated and the spa at the resort was enjoyable so that helped. My best advice based on my experience is to pace yourself and mix in match play or rally sessions to apply what you've learned. There were many drills but I not much match play on my part, mostly due to poor planning on my part. Tennis is not an afterthought around these parts...45 well-maintained courts with friendly instruction. Beautiful weather and surroundings. The video instruction was a useful tool and was very effective. It's opt-in so be sure to request it when you get there."—A.G., Adv. Int., April 2017

They remembered me from previous visits and I was able to work Larry again, who greatly improved my game the previous visit. This resort is so friendly and welcoming...I felt like I was coming back to see old friends. After extensively researching similar programs, you cannot find this quality of instruction for the $$$. My husband, who has been playing tennis for over 30 years, said the private lesson we did with Larry was the best he had ever experienced. We will definitely be back"—S.J., Int., April 2017
  • 5-Ball Rating "Saddlebrook is fantastic! We went there in April with our 13 and 17 year old children and enrolled them in the tennis program. The instruction and attention were first rate. The instructors are very attentive and personable. Howard in particular was wonderful - excellent instruction and easy going. The setting is very easy to navigate with the pool, restaurants, etc. centrally located. Our room was clean and comfortable. We plan to return in October for the adult program. • 4½-Ball Rating "My son Arya, recently turned 13, attended a week-long tennis camp at Saddlebrook. He plays in a high-performance academy in NJ and trains 6 days a week averaging 15 hours a week of tennis. For his spring break, we decided to go to Saddlebrook and change his routine. We arrived Sunday afternoon and checked in to our room. Tennis lessons start Monday morning at 8 Am. He played with other campers from 8 am until 11 am. After the morning session, the coaches decided he should play with the academy kids. In the afternoon session, from 1 pm to 5 pm, he played with the academy kids. He had an amazing time. From Tuesday, my son started lessons at 9 am instead of 8 am because that is when academy kids arrive. Most of the morning sessions were private or semi-private and the afternoon sessions were typically 2 to 3 kids to a court. Arya loved the afternoon sessions with the academy kids. He made some really good friends. Throughout the week, he played with a variety of coaches and every one of them are excellent. Every coach is a little different, but Arya responded well to all of them. I met other families from the northeast who brought their kids for training and they loved the place as much as I did. The resort itself is beautiful. The buildings are a little older, but well maintained. The tennis facility is truly wonderful. We had an amazing week and we are already planning our next trip back."—M.A., Adv., April 2017
  • 5-Ball Rating "Hey tennisresortsonline.com... why is Saddlebrook only ranked #20 on your list? Cuz when it comes to tennis... Came here with my wife and high school daughter, who is on her tennis team (and I'm old but played on my high school team). We all participated in the 5 hour camp for three days. The resort was buzzing with activity since Saddlebrook is hosting the FedCup (USA vs. Czech Republic). The pros here are really communicative. They do many of the same drills that we're all used to doing at our home club (plus some new ones that I intend to use again in practice), but the staff here really do a great job in talking about the strengths and weaknesses of each person's game. Special kudos to the "Tennis Whisperer," Coach Shawn McGee. He's really a special talent when it comes to teaching the game of tennis. He had my daughter change her stroke in subtle ways that really amped up the pace of her hits on both the forehand and backhand side. Our whole family has come away with a few new weapons to try out back home. Thanks, Saddlebrook!"—D.M., Adv. Int., April 2017

The instruction was very good, they came up with creative drills, and worked on items you wanted to address. They definitely put you in groups within your own level. You tend to establish a repore with the people in the group. Great time, courts were well kept and the instruction was excellent . Give it a try -- you will like it"—M.R., Adv., April 2017

  • 4½-Ball Rating "Saddlebrook is my "happy place". My husband gave me a trip to Saddlebrook as a birthday gift over a decade ago and I have been hooked ever since. Now I go with friends, by myself, with him, anytime I can --and each time it's an excellent experience that improves my game and takes away all stress. Here's the checklist; you can't get this anywhere else: 1) Five hours of tennis clinics available each day; 2) 4:1 max student to instructor ratio; 3) Outstanding instructors; 4) Outstanding leadership -- Program Director Howard Moore designs and oversees things to ensure that each person's experience is optimal; 5) Video-taping and personalized feedback; 6) Great climate year-round --always outdoors; 7) Comfortable environment --everyone is friendly (tennis staff, resort staff, fellow guests). All you have to do is show up and everything is taken care of for you. Tennis clinic from 8-11. Break from 11-1 (for me, this is time for lunch by the pool, watching pros practice, checking out the pro shop). Tennis clinic from 1-3. Then there is time for drinks by the pool or a spa treatment or checking out the wildlife (the birds are amazing). All meals are available on property. It's close to the Tampa airport. You can choose a hotel room or suite (with kitchen). But back to the tennis... Saddlebrook is also a place where pros have been created and developed and come back to practice. When I was there a few weeks ago, during my lunch break, I watched Sam Stosur and John Isner working on their games! It's great having the opportunity to work with different instructors. Each has his/her own way of expressing how to execute a stroke or doubles or singles strategy. I have learned new terms from Phil, like "Shankapotomus" (not good), been given great lessons, tips, and feedback from Howard, Sean, Vlad and Zora, and even got advice on upgrading my racquet --which I did and I'm very happy about. Saddlebrook is the only place I'd ever take a tennis vacation. When you experience the best you just can't compromise or stop going back!"—R.D., Low Int., March 2017
  • 4½-Ball Rating "We found the camp to be physically intense but not overwhelming with good breaks and many camp-provided amenities and refreshments. The quality of the instruction was superb with direct instructor feedback after almost every stroke. The variety of drills and point play kept things fresh and interesting. Great value for a 5 hour per day adult camp with a 3:1 student-teacher ratio. The resort was fantastic. Great food, great service, great amenities. We enjoyed time in almost all of their restaurants (fine and casual dining) as well as the spa and pools. We would definitely return."—C.S., Int., March 2017

My two private lessons with Larry also helped my game. He has many years of experience that allows him to hone in on your weaknesses and make rapid corrections. Larry showed me patterns to win my singles matches and he is keen on the psychological aspect of winning. Thank you to Larry and the saddle brook tennis center."—L.M., Low Int., March 2017
  • 5-Ball Rating "I coach tennis at a school in the Boston area and brought my team down for 5 days of preseason training. This was all of our first time at Saddlebrook. While the kids played at the junior camp, I participated in adult clinics. We were all impressed with the coaching staff, the facilities, and the services available. The team felt that they got a solid workout each day and appreciated the low athlete to pro ratio and being able to hit with a lot of different kids of all ages and experience levels. They especially enjoyed the drills designed to improve the mental side of their game. At the end of each day, they were exhausted but pleased that the resort offered buses to Walmart and the mall so they could pick up snacks and go out for frozen yogurt. As an adult, I felt comfortably challenged by the clinics. I mostly worked with DJ and Larry who were excellent pros who helped me break down each part of my game and improve piece by piece. They introduced a ton of different drills and did an outstanding job of simplifying and scaffolding each stroke and explaining a variety of match scenarios. Overall, it was a win-win: the kids had a great experience and I got to improve my game while chaperoning."—A.H.,  March 2017

Sandra was so responsive to our questions and needs. The instructors are all really nice and professional. They really take the time to get to know the players and adapt a plan for their stay. The directors (Howard and Sean) were very involved and definitely made sure all players were happy. The level of instruction was really strong and again, adapted to the players they were teaching. I can't wait to go back!"—K.S., Int., March 2017
  • 4½-Ball Rating "I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the excellent service of the Hopman tennis center team this week. The office and pro shot were so accommodating, helpful and pleasant as I added extra sessions and lessons for myself and my 6 year old twins. The coaching team was fantastic. Especially coaches Carol and Jeffrey who took amazing care of my 6 year very active twins. The twins have never really been in formal tennis lesson before and Carol and Jeffrey brought out the very best in them. And the kids both had so much fun in the first day afternoon sessions that they asked to do morning and afternoon. After that, they even wanted more, so we added private lessons to a few days, which meant that for several days they were in 6 hours of instruction and still wanted to play more after that. A very good reflection on the coaching! Also I'd like to acknowledge Larry. He was outstanding. He managed a very diverse group (me being the weakest link:) ) one afternoon, with skill, humor and expertise. He also was an excellent teacher for my friend and I ?when we did a semi private lesson with him on another day. We learned more in that hour than we thought possible. He was terrific in every aspect. Such a depth of knowledge. Great pedagogy approach and a lot of passion and genuine interest in making us improve our skills. We are grateful that the team at Saddlebrook make tennis accessible and interesting. My family will definitely be back again as often as we can."—M.S., Beg., March 2017

  • 4½-Ball Rating "Had a great 5 day 2 sessions/day experience at Saddlebrook a few weeks ago. I was fortunate to have an excellent pro, Zora, for all 5 days. A friend of mine joined me for 6 of the sessions. The staff made sure we had well matched players on the court with us(we are 4.5 level). I understand that Saddlebrook is emphasizing keeping everyone's group equal in tennis ability. Pluses: All the pros are accomplished players and have great backgrounds. Zora is outstanding, but I saw great teaching down the line. You will hit more tennis balls at Saddlebrook than any other place I know(I've been to several others) The pros are very willing to spend extra time working on a weakness. The more work you are willing to put in, I guarantee, the more improvement you will see. You may think that's true everywhere, but at Saddlebrook, they will show you innovative ways to break down your old habits. Zora played many points with us and participated in some of the drills as needed. That kept the tennis lively and competitive. Negatives: The resort itself is nice and the rooms are good, but no Wow factor. Restaurants and exercise facility are also all good. There is a full service Spa which is supposed to be very good, but I've never been in it(I'm a guy). It's easy to fly into Tampa. Wesley Chapel is 40 minutes away and there isn't much around. Going into Tampa for nightlife is too big of a deal in my opinion, though others do it."—B.S., Adv., March 2017
  • 5-Ball Rating "I've been going to Saddlebrook for the past 25 years with friends and family. Howard Moore and his staff do a great job of ensuring an intense, fun experience for players of all levels. There are never more than 4 players per court, so the action is non-stop. My pro this year was Zora, who pushed me just hard enough and gave sound feedback on my stroke technique. She really understood my game and gave me tips I could use right away. I know of no better way to work on my game and prepare for the summer tennis season than a long weekend at Saddlebrook."—J.H., Adv., March 2017

I am a 74 yr. old former club payer who went to this camp to sharpen my club game in ATL who benefited greatly from the coaching/instruction from Coach Larry. I have been to 7 camps in my career and he was the BEST coach above all. The difference was he taught strategy in addition to stokes, etc. His teaching method is awesome----take advantage !!"—B.K., Int., February 2017
  • 3½-Ball Rating "At Saddlebrook visiting friends in the community and took a morning 3 hour camp with a friend taught by AJ. We really liked AJ--he fed us millions of balls and offered good pointers and instruction. The Saddlebrook facility itself was a bit sleepy and looked a little run down; it could use some cosmetic upgrades. The head of the Hopman tennis facility was very charming and friendly and gave us Saddlebrook shirts and totes. I would definitely visit again."—C.G., Adv. Int., February 2017
  • 4½-Ball Rating "The atmosphere at Saddlebrook is the perfect combination of intense tennis, a friendly and supportive staff pushing you to improve, and a swim in the pool or visit to the hot tub. Zora was my pro and she was awesome, both instructive and supportive. You are placed on a court with others of the same skill level. You will push yourself and hit more balls than you ever dreamed you could. But you will improve and have a great time along the way. Howard does an excellent job overseeing the staff and participants. Phil and Larry are also big favorites of our family!"—M.F., Adv., February 2017
  • 4½-Ball Rating "I just returned from attending 3 days at the Hopman 5 Hour Adult clinic at Saddlebrook. It was a great 3 days and a wonderful break from the winter weather in Canada. The sessions were 3 hours in the morning and another 2 hours in the afternoon, with 2 hours in between for lunch. The instructors made sure that everyone stayed hydrated and pushed the pace enough to challenge everyone within their limits. The 5 hours flew by. We covered the basic strokes and had enough time to run drills and reinforce what we learned. During the 3 days I worked with Zora, Phil, Tai and Vlad. They were all excellent and kept things fun. My wife did not join me on this trip because the review of the tennis program gave the impression that it was a "bootcamp" along the lines of the navy seal training. I didn't need to worry and it would have been fine if my wife had joined me. The instructors adjust the intensity to the ability of each group. It was a great trip, I'll attend again."—C.H., Int., February 2017
  • 3½-Ball Rating "Amazing tennis program. I feel stronger and more competent in just three days. The pros are knowledgable and seem to really want to help people. I saw my peers improve dramatically right in front of my eyes. The resorts grounds are well kept and the staff is very personable; the pool bartender called my by name all week. The rooms themselves, though clean, are outdated. I would like to see them remodeled, especially for the cost."—H.C., Int., February 2017
  • 5-Ball Rating "I came to improve my technique. The instructors are patient, attentive and very friendly. The instructors watch, suggest adjustments and through repetition coach you through how to achieve consistency on the finer points of technique. If you stay for several days you will have an opportunity to receive insight and instructions for a variety of people. Their main goal is to make you a better player at your level by explaining how the flaw in your technique adversely impacts you game. I take a one hour lesson a week. In five days, I have had the equivalent of six months of lessons, but with significantly more repetition, producing a real improvement both results and confidence. I will continue with my weekly lesson, but i will come back here again."—J.D., Int., January 2017
  • 4½-Ball Rating "I spend a week at the resort back in March 2016 with my then 14 year old son and my wife. My son was signed up for the junior camp for the full week. Unfortunately he caught a stomach bug and couldn't fulfill the full program. On top of that he was placed with a school group where he didn't really fit in. We brought our concern to the attention of the Tennis director Howard Moore and were very impressed with the attention and solutions offered to us. We were allowed full credit at a future trip all we had to do was call. This past week I went back with my son and we had personal training by Howard Moore and his head coach which was very useful. Impressed with the follow up and the level and quality of the instructions is impeccable. We will definitely go back."—J.S., Adv., January 2017
  • 3½-Ball Rating "I'm a 3.5 USTA player and this was my third time to Saddlebrook. They've changed the program since I was last there to be less focused on footwork and feeding drills to incorporate more live ball play. I was hoping to get mor tips to improve the strategy in my play. I even wrote them ahead of time to tell them my goals. The first day, they had me in a group with someone who was a beginner and couldn't do short court rallies. I asked to be moved after 15 minutes, which they did. The next day, they put the same person in my group again when more people joined the classes. I complained again and they moved me. Unfortunately, I was with a different pro each day with different ones giving you different feedback and that always makes me mental, which I warned them about before I arrived. Phil was the best instructor and I wish I had him throughout. I think he would have given more strategy that would have been useful for me. I've been to many adult tennis camps. I don't think I'd go to Saddlebrook again. The best part about it is the intensity of the program. You can play all day if you want. Most camps don't have at least five hours a day of instruction. But they are limited by which players sign up for the clinics and you might end up in a group with people who don't have your skills. For the money and strategy you get, Newcombe's ranch and Wintergreen are much better values."—C.M., Adv. Int., January 2017

  • 4½-Ball Rating "I just came back from a 5-day intensive adult athlete training bootcamp at Saddlebrook. This was my second time in two years. The great majority of participants were very good players in their mid-30s to mid-50s with above average physical condition. I've spent all week with Edward, a young pro with a modern ATP style. He rapidly zoomed-in on my handicap and made me practice all week with creative and demanding drills. He didn't give up on correcting my shortfalls so that at the end of each day I really felt like progressing. Although we were working hard, we also had a lot of fun. The atmosphere in our group was awesome. I love Saddlebrook for that and for many other things such as a very friendly and customer-focused staff, a superb facility with a giant pool, large rooms with kitchenettes, family-friendly location (my son was enrolled in the junior tennis program while I was doing the senior one) and above all, great tennis for a serious adult athletes like me!"—B.G., Adv. • 5-Ball Rating "In mid-December, we had a great 2 1/2 days at Saddlebrook. First, the tennis instruction was first-class, carefully tailored to each player's experience level. Within the first 30 minutes, the set of coaches evaluated each player and not only paired players by ability level, but already focused with each indivdual on specific areas to address. I was lucky and ended up with 5 hours coaching one of the days one on one with coach Vlad. The other days, my wife and I were paired with other players and worked with coach Larry. Lot's of fun competitive play along with the coaching. And the video analyses by coach Tai was quite instructive. The har-tru courts were in great shape, and we also had a chance to play on red clay (the grass courts were too wet to be playable). And the resort itself and the accomodations were excellent. The Dempsey Steak House dinner onsite was superb, with the sea bass the best I have ever eaten anywhere (despite it being a steak house). Basically, can't beat Saddlebrook for a bucket list experience. And one of the fellow players has been back for 27 straight years !!"—I.F., Int., December 2016

  • 4½-Ball Rating "I recently went through the Hopman program at Saddlebrook. I'm a 4.0-4.5 player, and this was my first time going through an onsite camp as an adult. The tennis staff at Saddlebrook are fantastic. Howard is a real gentleman with an infectious attitude about tennis. My wife actually surprised me with this trip. But I learned afterwards she had multiple conversations with Howard directly where he provided everything she needed to plan this trip. When I arrived, he personally asked if there was anything he could do to make my stay better. I requested to train on the red clay in addition to the green surface, and he immediately obliged. Howard performs the morning demonstrations as well, and the passion and insight that goes into his instruction really keep everyone's attention. Roberto was one of the pros that I worked with. A real student of the game and competitor. A great pro to work with if you're focused on tactics in particular. After the first day with him I realized I'd been hitting backhand volleys wrong my whole life. And with a couple of simple changes, that shot is now 10 times better. He's also not afraid to keep you working - which was fine with me. Tai was another pro that I worked with. This guy is a fantastic communicator - a great tennis coach. Right away you can tell he is a really good player. But when he offers feedback - he finds ways to get things to sink in. Before you know it you're hitting 100% better with a few small changes. He also has a great attitude and comes across as a real leader. Getting a chance to work with Tai was a GREAT opportunity. The tennis facilities were outstanding. Well maintained courts in a great setting. Lunch at Inspirations restaurant was also very good. Really hot, fresh food and good specials. The spa was also very nice - and I had a sports massage which was much needed after so much tennis. There aren't many weaknesses that come to mind. I guess the rooms are a little bit dated. But still clean and comfortable. I wasn't there to spend a bunch of time in my room anyway, so that wasn't a huge deal. If you want to go work on your game with some serious tennis people, Saddlebrook is a great choice. Thank you, Howard and team for making my experience so memorable."—M.R., Adv. Int., November 2016

The knowledge level, courtesy and professionalism is second to none compared to other tennis resorts. Howard Moore (Program Director) is an absolute joy to be around. The staff (Zora/Phil the ones I mostly interacted with this visit) of tennis pros are friendly, infectious and upbeat. The groups are small enough to keep the drill personal. The entire staff at Saddlebrook (front office/housing) made my visit a complete joy. It is no wonder when I go somewhere else I always return to Saddlebrook."—L.C., Adv. Int., November 2016

No video analysis after three-day stay, except a tiny bit on an iPhone on the first day. Not vigilant about keeping appropriate levels together. I was in a group of 4.0 people and they included one man who had only been playing for one year, did not know where to stand in doubles, and seemed to be more like. 3.0. He also did not understand etiquette, including hitting balls hard across the net after the point was over. He probably should have been separated from the rest."—P.H., Adv., November 2016
  • 5-Ball Rating "Three of my best friends and I attended a 3-day camp in October 2016. Our Tennis pro we were assigned kept us moving - we worked on every aspect of our game. He also allowed us to provide feedback about what we wanted to do more of both as a group and individually - so, it was tailored to our needs, yet still demanding and fun. We all came away knowing more about the game and improved players - a huge success. I also want to point out that the Program Director, Howard Moore, was top-notch and runs a very tight ship. All four of us were impressed to his hands-on approach and focus on making sure every attendee received the best experience possible. He also invited each of us to a personal coaching session with him - something I will never forget! He is a true professional and wonderful ambassador for the sport of Tennis. In summary, our trip to Saddlebrook was very worthwhile not only for the tennis, but also for the very spacious and comfortable resort."—B.W., Int., October 2016

They were able to accommodate my college age daughter as a beginner for a couple days without difficulty. They really took care. Our group had Zora and she could immediately see what each of us needed to improve. She consistently pushed us for the necessary changes. Not too much, not too little. She is a great instructor."—C.W., Adv. Int., October 2016

I had a steak that was one of the best I have ever had. The lodging was acceptable. It was clean (which is critical) but a little bit dated and in need of a re-fresh. It would have been nice to have WiFi in the rooms and some access to recent movies in the rooms. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. As far as a tennis experience, it was top notch. I would like to return with my tennis buddies."—W.W., Adv., October 2016

They are fantastic tennis instructors! I plan on returning next year."—L.C., Int., October 2016

  • 4½-Ball Rating "The tennis program at Saddlebrook is fabulous. My wife and I have returned 3 times in the last 2 years and will without a doubt be going back again. All of the teaching pro's do an excellent job but one in particular stands out with exception. Zora, a former WTA player and collegiate standout, brings us back time and time again. Her attention to technique and all around play makes every drill session with her a pleasure, while being very productive. Regardless of your level of play, 3.0, 5.0 or anywhere in between, I assure you Zora will give you several coaching tips to improve your game. She exhibits a great personality and hard work ethic in everything done on the court. Hats off to Saddlebrook Tennis and our sincere thanks to Zora in particular for everything you have done. Keep up the great work!!"—C.C., Adv. Int., October 2016

Having a group of 4 players to 1 instructor allows for maximum attention to individual instruction, and plenty of repetition. I appreciated the focus for the entire group on a specific play strategy each morning session. Certainly 2 sessions per day allows the tennis enthusiast everything they could want. • 4-Ball Rating "I spent 4 days at Saddlebrook this year - and they did a great job of working me very hard. This is not a clinic for those not really wishing to push themselves as it is 3 hours in the morning and 2 in the afternoon - I loved it. Zora was very organised, well structured in her group coaching - her teaching points were excellent and her communication very good. I also took a private lesson with her - and she I can honestly say transformed an adequate backhand into a weapon - her patience, consistency of teaching point and communication was excellent. Saddlebrook is exceptional for those really wishing to push themselves - it was so much fun - and nothing is ever too much for Howard and his team. My nephew was there too and he loved the children's programme. They go out of their way to cope with individual needs. Simply the BEST !"—C.H., Adv. Int., May 2016

This time I convinced two friends to join me and they were also thrilled with the quality of the instructors and the amount of attention/feedback they received during their stay. After one day with my instructor (Justin from California) I requested to stay with him balance of week, for consistency purposes and because his teaching style was just what I was looking for. I left Saddlebrook with a brand new topspin backhand and a kick serve - what's not to like!?! I highly rcommend this program to anyone who wants to improve while reviewing all their basic strokes, getting some strategy advice and having tons of fun all at the same time. The accomodation and the settings are also completely made for us to feel at home, and you can tell that customer service is taken veery seriously here. Larry came to the rescue with tapings when my wrist was playing a number on me, and had my racquet restrung overnight and brought to the court the next day. Thanks to Justin, Alice from Hopman Tennis program and many others I will return for a yearly pilgrimage - there is no point trying a different place... The pros are both great players and great instructors. The option of doing a morning session or morning and afternoon sessions are great opportunities to play as much tennis as you like. During my last visit my instructor was Zora and she was great. She knows the game very well and gave me plenty of insight and tips on how to improve my game. At the same time, she didn't overwhelm me with too much instruction. I been to many tennis camps and Saddlebrook is the one I keep returning to. • 3½-Ball Rating "The strengths of Saddlebrook are the instructors, the serene and beautiful setting and the nicely tended courts. My girlfriend and I were there for 2 days for morning and afternoon sessions. The first day was as expected with a mix of drills and point play with a maximum of 4 people per instructor. Unfortunately, thunderstorms appeared in the mid-morning of the second day and we had to clear the courts. Zora was my instructor on both days. She was excellent. She gave advice about stroke technique during the drill and took time to explain with demonstration and repetitive practice for each player as needed. She was cheerful and drilled us at a good pace. In the early afternoon on the day of the thuderstorms, "TennisLarry" gave us a fun and tip-filled talk regarding match strategy and shot selection. The courts are well maintained. There is a warm up and stretch prior to drill which helps loosen limbs and core. There were several reasons why the overall experience was average. The camps are not cheap, but after arriving the evening prior to our first official tennis camp day, we woke up bright and early to have breakfast prior to the listed time of the first drill session and arrived at court on time. We waited and no one showed up for 10 minutes at which time one of the pro's showed up and told us that the drill was delayed for 1 hour and 15 minutes. It would have been preferred that someone alert us the evening before as they had our phone contact information and knew which room we were in. On our first day, which was quite humid and hot, there were no water bottles available on the set of courts where we were stationed. There was G2. The promised fruit break never happened as the "fruit truck" never appeared. The standard room we were in was acceptable, but by no means luxurious. It did have a nice veranda so we could sit and enjoy the scenic view. The shower leaked but the air conditioning worked well. The cleaning staff were pleasant and provided plenty of towels. The on-site restaurants all have similar lunch and dinner menus except for Dempseys which has fairly high prices. We splurged and ate there one night and the scallops with linguini and Parker rolls were excellent. Considering the cost of the resort, I am not sure I would go and stay and eat on site again. It may be a better value to stay in a hotel nearby and eat off site, but attend the tennis camps for the excellent instruction."—L.D., Int., April 2016
  • 4½-Ball Rating "Traveled with family (two couples) to Saddlebrook Tennis; intermediate to strong intermediate skill levels. Wives were the instigators and for 3 of 4 people it was first time at “camp” but with significant past tennis experience. Accommodations were good and close to everything in the resort. Resort arrangement is well thought out. Tennis Pro to camp-er ratio was great. To say my tennis experience was intensive would be an understatement. I think my pro was half ball machine! It took no time for the pros to coral levels into appropriate groups and start drilling. Overall, the balls were typically in the right place before I was. My pro knew the strengths and weaknesses of my game in no time and astonishingly had something constructive to say with each and every hit. By the end of our three days I was finally hearing more “GOOD!”. Pro ratio allows discussions and tailoring of work aspects if you wish. If you want an intense experience talk to Zora. My family of varying skill levels all had great experiences even having 3 different Pros. For those of you with Fitbit I consistently hit 23+k without trying and not taking advantage of open courts after camp. Take note of the expected weather. It was very hot and humid for a guy from Maine but snacks and beverages were everywhere. An Indoor option and one or two more food options would be nice but not really “lacking” in any area."—R.L., Adv. Int., April 2016

He was really invested in us getting better and also what we could work on when we got home. He kept his drills moving and really mixed it up! We did drills, played points and also worked on our reflexes! He even kept reminding us to drink water! Alex was so specific in what we needed to do to get better! By far he is the best pro I have ever had a lesson with to date. I would highly recommend Alex if you attend Saddlebrook Tennis!"—M.S., Adv. Int., March 2016

  • 4½-Ball Rating "I didn't stay at the resort, but I attended 3 days of adult tennis clinics and a private lesson, which were top-notch. The schedule was well-organized, adapted to the player's levels and requests for areas of improvement. Staff was very friendly and the pros were perceptive and resourceful in their explanations and drills. Full of energy, not ho-hum like you get at some places. I wish there had been video analysis, as stated on their website, but it wasn't an option when I was there. Philip, one of the pros, is an expert at video analysis apparently, so that would be a great addition so we can see what we're actually doing wrong. I took 3 pages of notes in between sessions as I didn't want to let those nuggets of wisdom disappear, but video would have been even better! I'm a 4.5 rated player and the combination of the pros advanced drills and the high level of other players made all the difference here. If you don't have both high level players to drill with and a pro doing creative drills, it just isn't worth going. This was worth it - and reasonably priced, I thought. I attended 2 other highly-rated adult camps this winter, Cliff Drysdale-Amelia and VanderMeer in Holton Head, which I'll write reviews for also - and Saddlebrook was the most intense, fun and satisfying! The quick 10 minute demos that Howard did with the pros demonstrating were very powerful - plus his sense of humor is great. Thank you, Rob, Tye, Howard and Lauren for such a great experience all around! I look forward to coming back to show off my kicker serve :) The maple syrup is on it's way... really."—M.M., Adv., March 2016
  • 4-Ball Rating "The tennis coaching was customized to my exact needs and the coaching staff was excellent. No time was wasted on reviewing the process, schedule, etc. The coaches jumped right in and within minutes I was getting well needed instruction, insights and improvements. The 1:4 ratio on court was adhered to and due to the uncrowded time I was there I had 1:1 training most of the time. The schedule was held to, 8-11am followed by afternoon session 1-3pm. I didn't think I would need a 2 hour lunch break but I genuinely did. With 90F and 90% humidity I needed the time to shower/change in my room, then have lunch and get back on the court. The court conditions and equipment were all very good. Water, gatorade and fruit was available all the time. While the resort itself is not new the furnishings in the room were all great and nothing was warn. Comfortable bed, new cvs, etc. I took advantage of the suite and stocked up breakfast items at the supermarket and had lunches in the dining rooms. All meals were delicious and salads were fresh. Very large servings which I usefully split as I couldn't eat it all. The spa was beautiful and I had a massage while there which was very good and reasonably prices. I had a great experience and wouldn't hesitate to go back. In fact, I hope I do!"—K.S., Int., March 2016

  • 4-Ball Rating "I've just arrived home from a short, 3-day getaway at Saddlebrook and I feel like I've left paradise behind. I'm a repeat guest, visiting the resort a half-dozen times over the past 10+ years. I love the consistency of the instruction - meaning it's always high quality and intensive. The program formula has been proved over time to identify strengths and challenges in the club-level player's game (me) and pinpoint strategies for improvement. The tennis program combines fast-paced cardo drills with didactic stroke analysis and instruction. You leave exhausted and deliriously happy. The property is gorgeous; I think one of the best kept secrets among resorts. But, I'd have to conclude by saying that I come back to Saddlebrook again and again foremost for the tennis instruction. The instructors don't pull any punches and they treat you like adult athletes, pushing you to mastering all of the elements of the game. Thank you to Howard, Ty and especially Vlad for making this one of my best Saddlebrook experiences to date. Vlad's drills, explanations, demonstrations, and even his humor were the highlights of this trip for me. Vlad taught me the MOST important thing in tennis (actually there were like 5-6 things but all gems). He was patient but firm with this instruction and correction. I wish I could have this kind of caring, skilled and purposeful instruction closer to home. I know my game would take off to the next level with this kind of coaching! Thank you"—N.C., Adv. The structure and instruction of the camp improved my game. I recommend a spa treatment after day two! I would definitely return and will recommend to my friends."—M.M., Beg., February 2016
  • 4-Ball Rating "Like you, I did a lot of one-line research before selecting Hopman as my desination. After spending a week on the forgiving clay of Saddlebrook, I am here to tell you the great reviews your are reading…well they are all true! This is a World Class tennis experience. Howard and his team craft a program that is tailored specifically to your game, fitness level and desired outcome. My primary tennis professional was Vlad. He was one part Pancho Gonzales, one part Jim Loehr and one part Toni Nadal. His advise and solutions were based totally on my game and not your standard by the book tennis rules. He pushed me hard on the court mentally and physically but never crossing a line that kept it from being fun. The courts and common recreational areas are fantastic as is the food and level of customer service. The only downside were the actual accomodations. I have stayed in nicer rooms at a Motel 6 but trust me on this….you will not spend much time in your room and when you do, you will want to sleep!"—G.M., Adv., February 2016

Howard was extremely friendly and attentive, he always participated in the warm-up sessions and was leading the morning demo instructions. My coach Zora, a former WTA pro, was excellent. I liked that she focused on a few things at a time, and helped me improve, instead of overwhelming me with too many technical details. I really enjoyed the professional approach of Zora and the other coaches that I encountered. There was a WTA tournament taking place at Saddlebrook at the same time, so it added to the good vibe of the resort and the tennis camp. I will definitely come back soon!"—M.K., Adv. Program was not as billed on the website, no socials, no wine and cheese party, lunch was not included. Restaurants were not open. Choice was junky food. (Tasty, but not healthy. No veggies. Limited salads.)Booking tennis and lodging together as required was confusing bc total prices were not listed. Upon arrival, front desk was not welcoming. No water, fruit, or cookies or restroom in lobby. No information on tennis. Rooms were so messed up. I spent almost an hour being assigned incorrect rooms, in wrong cluster, occupied, etc. had to return to front desk and wait 3 separate times. VERY poor first impression. Worst checkin I have ever experienced. Room finally assigned supplied smelled so strongly of carpet cleaner chemicals, I had to leave doors open. Bedroom doors are only sliding. Poor sound and privacy from living room. Sofa had rips in several places on cushions. Not a $600/ night quality. Rooms are tired and cheap. No paper towels. No ice machine in our area. No washer /dryer. We had to fill out questionnaires before arrival. Could not fill out on form, nor copy and fill out. Waste of time as these were ignored. Were not placed in ability group. Spent 90% of time on forehand. Poor feeds and usually 2 different corrections on each turn. Videotaped first day with shots we had not even warmed up. Copies were never sent to us as promised. We did get to view. I would have preferred a plan for the days I was there. Covering all strokes/ shots. Proper instruction on the mechanics of the stroke, then drill practice. Also, all instructors were terrible at teaching to the physical level of the players. I was injured by poor feeds and not being warmed up. I would never go again without a lesson plan in writing and the understanding I am over 55 and pro should be able to teach to that. Jose stood out as being very kind and trying hard to adapt to player and encourage tennis."—A.W., Adv. Int., January 2016

I'd not been playing tennis for 3 months due to an injury so I was concerned about joining a full day program. Well I had nothing to worry about as the Tennis staff personalized the program to meet my needs. The teaching Staff are exceptional and so encouraging . Howard Moore keeps a sharp eye on all players to make sure they are leaving with something to help them improve there game. That was a huge plus for me . The resort has a good fitness centre and there are valet's in golf carts to drive you over to the fitness centre which I found very useful as it allowed me to have a good warm up before I went on court . The accommodations however have a very tired look but are comfortable. I will go back to Saddlebrook as I learned a lot on court in a very short time and I left knowing what I had to work on. Thank you Howard and Staff :o)"—I.K., Adv. Int., January 2016

Dinner at the steak restaurant was very good. There was a nice pool and hot tubs. Staff were so very friendly and helpful. Great family spot--we rented a two bedroom with full kitchen so we could cook. Again, GO!"—C.O., Adv., January 2016
  • 4½-Ball Rating "I was at conference in Orlando and decided to add weekend after it at this tennis resort. They have a very good program and well structured. I like the instructors and drills, although the intensity of them can vary by instructor. The vegetation around the courts and grounds are beautiful, as are the birds that visit. The accommodations and check in area can use updating."—B.B., Adv., January 2016
  • 4½-Ball Rating "Strengths - excellent instruction and facilities; morning and afternoon sessions available as well as private instruction; children's programs available as well as spa, pool with outdoor restaurant and bar, golf and fitness facility if the tennis isn't enough. Condo set-up with kitchen is nice so you don't always have to go out for beverages and snacks. You can ask for specific instructors - recommend Justin Suttle, Farley, Phillip and Jaime. The only weakness is it's not a good place for family members not interested in tennis or golf."—C.P., Int., January 2016
  • 5-Ball Rating "Very strong adult tennis program. Justin Suttle was my instructor for four days - two sessions per day. Outstanding instruction and coaching kept things active and improved my game tremendously. Justin alternated intensity with humor and always explained technique and strategy with clear and concise examples and demonstration."—D.N., Int., January 2016
  • 4½-Ball Rating "Great program! We love Howard Moore and all the teaching pros for the adults and juniors. My wife and I worked with Justin and Vlad who were both fun and encouraging. Everyone is so accommodating and friendly - we would not think of going anywhere else. Keep up the great work!"—S.T., Adv. Int., January 2016
