Patrick Mouratoglou stands out as one of the highest-profile coaches on the professional tennis tour. For years he was a familiar face in Serena Williams's player box, and now that she has moved on, he is often seen in a courtside seat for Simona Halep's matches. Meanwhile, a roster of bold-face competitors currently train—or have trained—at his Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in Biot, France, among them Novak Djokovic, Simona Halep, Danil Medvedev, Coco Gauff, Andy Murray, Stephanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Alexander Zverev, and Stan Wawrinka to name only a few. The Mouratoglou Tennis Academy is not, however, a center solely devoted to training elite athletes. Its 34 hard and red-clay courts also welcome adult and junior campers at all levels with the promise of high-quality instruction by the Academy's international professional staff. The appeal of the academy extends to its location, a mere 15 minutes from the beaches and panache of the Côte d'Azur (a local bus serving Nice stops just outside the academy).
Adults can opt for one of two formats, depending on how much tennis they want. The half-day sessions bundle 90 minutes (2 hours in summer) of intense on-court drills and instruction with another 90 minutes of fitness training, a format that leaves afternoons free to explore the Côte d'Azur and surrounding region. For those who want to focus more assiduously on tennis, the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy stages a full-day, intensive camp comprising two 90-minutes training sessions daily (two 2-hour sessions in summer) and daily 90-minute fitness sessions.
Camps can be booked on an á la carte basis or as part of a package that includes on-site lodging at the 155-room Mouratoglou Hotel & Resort. Its facilities include a restaurant, four pools—one shaped like a tennis racquet—a spa, and a fitness center. Families staying a week or more can opt instead for furnished apartments.
