Top Tennis And Pickleball
Resorts & Camps For 2023
Except during the pandemic, Tennis Resorts Online has published its rankings of the Top Tennis Resorts and Camps every year since 2002, and last year we added the Top Pickleball Resorts. From the beginning, we've relied on the reviews of the players who've taken part. As participants, they have first-hand knowledge of the quality of what takes place on court and off. The form we ask them to fill out covers a broad spectrum of features. The racquet-sports sections ask vacationers to rate the overall tennis or pickleball experience, the professionalism of the teaching staff, the depth of the programming, the ease of finding a game, the quality of the pro shop goods and services, and the appeal of simply hanging around the courts. These characteristics form the backbone of a rewarding racquet-sports holiday, but creature comforts matter too, so we ask them also to rate such features as lodging, cuisine, dollar value, and a broad range of other resort amenities. All told, we invite vacationers to evaluate the resorts they visit on more than a dozen criteria, and then we use their ratings to compile our annual rankings.
To create rankings from those reviews, we employ a formula that overweights the key tennis or pickleball elements while also factoring in the spectrum of resort amenities. It takes a minimum of 25 reviews over the past year to qualify for a Gold Medal as either a tennis resort or tennis camp and a minimum of 20 reviews to qualify for the Top 5 Gold Medal slots as a pickleball resort. That way we can be sure that the results are statistically meaningful. Admittedly, resorts or camps with exceptional tennis or pickleball and great amenities have an advantage over resorts with exceptional tennis or pickleball and fewer or less highly rated off-court features. So to recognize excellence in individual elements, we also single out more than 15 categories for special recognition, among them Best Tennis Staff, Best Gamematching, Best Instruction and Programming, Best Pro Shop, Best Cuisine, Best Lodging, and Best Setting.
We have broken the results down into three categories: the Top 50 Tennis Resorts, the Top 15 Tennis Camps, and the Top 20 Pickleball Resorts. Each of these categories are then divided into Gold, Silver, and, in the case of tennis resorts, Bronze Medal winners. Taken together these rankings represent the collective wisdom of thousands of tennis and pickleball players. The resorts and camps that make the list reflect the rich diversity in the tennis and pickleball vacation landscapes because as a group they also mirror the diversity of your own needs and preferences. In that sense, every property on our list is a "great" resort or camp. As we look over the rankings as a whole, we're impressed by the depth of the field. We don't see three No. 1s; we see scores of options for a rewarding tennis or pickleball vacation. The choice comes down to one final issue: Which suits you best?
Meanwhile, we're already accumulating reviews for next year's top-ranked resorts and camps. To weigh in on your favorite resorts, visit Review a Tennis or Pickleball Resort or Camp.
