The Guide To Taking Your Tennis Racquet On the Road

Since 1999, Tennis Resorts Online has been helping vacationers decide where to go on their next tennis holiday. I've made a career of giving such advice, initially as Tennis magazine's travel and resorts editor and since 1999 as the founder of this website. What you see here are not paid listings but the descriptions—provided without cost to resorts and camps—of those properties I feel are worthy of your attention. Over the course of several decades, I've visited more than 350 resorts on five continents and participated in some 50 different tennis camps, many more than once. It is that personal experience—supplemented now by reviews submitted by vacationers like you—that underpins this website.

Finding the Tennis Resort or Camp That's Best For You

What you'll find on these and the following pages is a suite of tools to help you make an informed choice on where to go. Start by checking out the rankings of the Top 100 Tennis Resorts and Camps, which we base solely on the reviews submitted by people like you. For more personal advice, use the "Tailored Search" form that lets you specify precisely the features you're looking for in a resort or camp. Those results link to my personal descriptions, which are supplemented by the reviews—good or bad—of others who themselves have been there. There are also maps of what can be found in six different regions of the U.S. and one for Europe. Every property we list appears in a master index, listing both alphabetically and by state, region, or country. There is also a section devoted to junior camps, though since I'm a little old to participate in any of those I've had to settle for writing a description and let those juniors who've attended or their parents write personal reviews. To supplement all of this I've included a calendar of events taking place at tennis properties across the globe. We also ask resorts or camps to put together packages that offer special discounts or perks to Tennis Resorts Online readers. You can contact me at . See you on the courts. —Roger Cox, Editor

  • 4-Ball Rating Hidden Dunes Beach & Tennis Resort, Florida
"Hidden Dunes is a great place to go for a tennis getaway. Located on the beach in Miramar Beach, FL. The staff includes head pro Renee Broxson, pro George Cobia and match organizer Quy. All are very talented and provide clinics and lessons for players at all levels. From beginner to tournament play you will be able to get help with your games. The atmosphere is very friendly while still providing good competition for all levels. There are 6 Har-Tru courts that are very well maintained that allow for many hours of comfortable tennis. The nearby area provides excellent restaurants and great shopping. The beach is the whitest in all of Florida. Go to Hidden Dunes for a great tennis vacation."—C.B., Adv., March 2019
  • 4½-Ball Rating Horseshoe Bay Resort, Texas
"Michelle Stallard and her team put on a first class camp! Everyone leaves the courts with a smile and some new tactical knowledge!"—J.G., Adv., March 2019
  • 4-Ball Rating Sea Colony, Delaware
"Enjoyed a week of well run advanced clinics with a friendly, diverse, skilled set of coaches. Great location for a beach vacation for the whole family. On the court, sessions combined fun, challenging drills with competitive play. Particularly enjoyed working with several pros over the course of the week. Also, it was quite convenient to have indoor courts available when mother nature had her own plans."—R.F., Adv., March 2019
  • 4½-Ball Rating Northstar Tennis, California
"Our experience at Northstar Tennis was exceptional. The setting is picturesque and charming and the courts are well maintained. Most importantly the staff is wonderful. They are friendly, welcoming and know how to ensure a good experience no matter what the level of tennis expertise. The tennis instructions was excellent. We had individuals in our group with minimal experience and those who played on tennis teams back home. Everyone was given individual things to work on and were provided encouragement throughout. The snacks provided for the tennis clinics were modest but delicious. The Friday margarita party after the clinic was a fun way to end the week. The pro shop was quaint, but had all the necessary equipment and supplies. Northstar village is a close walk and has many shops and eateries, making the overall experience exceptional."—J.D., Int., April 2019
  • 4½-Ball Rating Gstaad Palace/Roy Emerson Tennis Weeks, Switzerland
"Voted #1 on almost every tennis camp internet search, Roy Emmerson's Tennis Weeks in Gstaad, Switzerland lives up to—and beyond—it's stellar reputation. The accommodation and hospitality, scenery and schedule, tennis pros and Roy, create an experience like no other. From the day you arrive, Roy and Joy welcome you to their summer home-away-from-home, and to their tennis family. Each day is packed with practice, wise instruction, tips, tricks, drills and feisty competition and match play. Each evening is a round robin of socializing with new friends, extraordinary food, necessary cocktails and nursing weary muscles. The week I spent with Roy was an absolute once-in-a-lifetime experience. So much so that I'm going again this year."—S.P., Adv. Int., April 2018
