The Guide To Taking Your Tennis Racquet On the Road

Since 1999, Tennis Resorts Online has been helping vacationers decide where to go on their next tennis holiday. I've made a career of giving such advice, initially as Tennis magazine's travel and resorts editor and since 1999 as the founder of this website. What you see here are not paid listings but the descriptions—provided without cost to resorts and camps—of those properties I feel are worthy of your attention. Over the course of several decades, I've visited more than 350 resorts on five continents and participated in some 50 different tennis camps, many more than once. It is that personal experience—supplemented now by reviews submitted by vacationers like you—that underpins this website.

What you'll find on these and the following pages is a suite of tools to help you make an informed choice on where to go. Start by checking out the rankings of the Top 100 Tennis Resorts and Camps, which we base solely on the reviews submitted by people like you. For more personal advice, use the "Tailored Search" form that lets you specify precisely the features you're looking for in a resort or camp. Those results link to my personal descriptions, which are supplemented by the reviews—good or bad—of others who themselves have been there. There are also maps of what can be found in six different regions of the U.S. and one for Europe. Every property we list appears in a master index, listing both alphabetically and by state, region, or country. There is also a section devoted to junior camps, though since I'm a little old to participate in any of those I've had to settle for writing a description and let those juniors who've attended or their parents write personal reviews. To supplement all of this I've included a calendar of events taking place at tennis properties across the globe. We also ask resorts or camps to put together packages that offer special discounts or perks to Tennis Resorts Online readers. You can contact me at . See you on the courts. —Roger Cox, Editor

  • 4½-Ball Rating New England Tennis Holidays at Sugarbush, Vermont
"Beautiful location, new friends, super instructors, fantastic lodging and food, and 5 hours of tennis! Who could ask for more! GREAT time for any age! You won't be disappointed and you'll want to go back! I do!!!"—K.H., Int., April 2018
  • 4-Ball Rating Baha Mar, Bahamas
"I just returned from a visit to the Rosewood Baha Mar. I played three consecutive days with Karl and Devlin. I'm a frequent visitor to tennis resorts across the country and internationally. I can't say enough nice things about my experience at the Rosewood Baha Mar. Karl is running a great show. Every aspect was highly organized, instructive and maintained an outstanding emphasis on the customer experience. I have always had outstanding experiences at PBI run tennis programs and this was no exception. So, to Karl and his crew - take a bow for a job well done!"—G.B., Int., August 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, California
"I'm a picky vacationer, but it's hard to find anything to pick on in this 3 days/2 night trip. Strengths: - Plenty of courts (even has 2 new clay courts) very well maintained. - Very easy to book court time, and flexible in last-minute schedule changes - Courteous patient coaches (I tried 2 of them, 2 one-hour sessions each) with spot-on insights - Nice court amenities especially for hot days - Excellent dining / quality of dinner food - 900 sq ft room is spacious, luxurious, and private - Enjoyed the spa treatment too, very relaxing facility Weakness: - Jaw-drop pricey for overnight stay, but you get the exclusivity and you get what you pay"—S.H., Adv. Int., July 2018
  • 4½-Ball Rating Wintergreen Tennis Academy, Virginia
"Played in their "Tennis Academy”. It was a great experience. Loved the instruction, challenge of play and the overall amenities of the wintergreen. Highly recommend for any ‘serious” tennis player to step up their game and have a wonderful mini vacation. The weather was amazing as the country was in the middle of a heat wave and we played in 72 degrees……"—G.M., Adv. Int., July 2018
  • 4-Ball Rating Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne, Florida
"Ask for Nathan because he is a perfect tennis instructor. Nathan notices little things in your technique that you could improve and his suggestions are very effective. His energy is just right. There was another instructor in a nearby court who seemed to be screaming commands in an effort to be high energy. I found this annoying. I was so grateful that Nate didn’t scream at all yet managed to be highly engaged, enthusiastic and fun the whole 3 days. Everyone in the tennis facility was super friendly and helpful. They brought us fruit, cold water bottles and Gatorade every day. I’d go back for sure and ask for Nathan."—J.K., Int., October 2018
