The Guide To Taking Your Tennis Racquet On the Road

Since 1999, Tennis Resorts Online has been helping vacationers decide where to go on their next tennis holiday. I've made a career of giving such advice, initially as Tennis magazine's travel and resorts editor and since 1999 as the founder of this website. What you see here are not paid listings but the descriptions—provided without cost to resorts and camps—of those properties I feel are worthy of your attention. Over the course of several decades, I've visited more than 350 resorts on five continents and participated in some 50 different tennis camps, many more than once. It is that personal experience—supplemented now by reviews submitted by vacationers like you—that underpins this website.

Finding the Tennis Resort or Camp That's Best For You

What you'll find on these and the following pages is a suite of tools to help you make an informed choice on where to go. Start by checking out the rankings of the Top 100 Tennis Resorts and Camps, which we base solely on the reviews submitted by people like you. For more personal advice, use the "Tailored Search" form that lets you specify precisely the features you're looking for in a resort or camp. Those results link to my personal descriptions, which are supplemented by the reviews—good or bad—of others who themselves have been there. There are also maps of what can be found in six different regions of the U.S. and one for Europe. Every property we list appears in a master index, listing both alphabetically and by state, region, or country. There is also a section devoted to junior camps, though since I'm a little old to participate in any of those I've had to settle for writing a description and let those juniors who've attended or their parents write personal reviews. To supplement all of this I've included a calendar of events taking place at tennis properties across the globe. We also ask resorts or camps to put together packages that offer special discounts or perks to Tennis Resorts Online readers. You can contact me at . See you on the courts. —Roger Cox, Editor

  • 4-Ball Rating Wintergreen Tennis Academy, Virginia
"I enjoyed all 3 days of instruction with Kostyantyn Khodirev. He gave us advanced instruction with many fun and informative drills. Each day began with stretching exercises and warmups. We continued with specific patterned drills to help us with our doubles strategy. Definitely strong drills and great energy through out the entire 3 days of instruction. Couldn’t believe how quickly the time went by. We all enjoyed a wonderful Swedish deep tissue massage between day 2 and 3 and also took advantage of the outdoor pool and hot tubs. Found great restaurants and Mountain View’s from our unit were spectacular. Main focus was for the tennis but we also enjoyed all Wintergreen has to offer."—L.D., Adv. Int., September 2018
  • 3½-Ball Rating Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, QR Mexico
"Nice variety of high energy drills and skilled instructors in pleasant surroundings. The tennis center is a new facility with 8 excellent red clay courts (3 covered although background in these needs improvement), a cafe, store, locker room and small museum of his memorabilia and other sport exhibits. The fitness center is located in the hotel. The hotel complex is located in a newly developed section of greater Cancun, a 15-20 minute drive from the main town. A nice feature is that one doesn't have to stay at the hotel associated wit the tennis complex but can drive to it from other hotels or houses. I would recommend it to friends. It has a variety of programs for all ages and levels."—M.B., Int., April 2019
  • 4½-Ball Rating Four Seasons Resort Nevis, Nevis, West Indies
"My wife and I just returned from our 5th trip to the Four Seasons in Nevis. We continually go back for the tennis. We are both avid tennis players and the Four Seasons offers the best tennis in the Caribbean. The tennis facilities are outstanding and Dave Wilson (Director of the tennis program) is awesome. We spend a week there, playing everyday, Dave knew exactly how much or how little instruction too provide to help fine tune our games. And of course no one can beat the service at the Four Seasons or the natural beauty of Nevis."—J.M., Adv., March 2019
  • 4½-Ball Rating Boar's Head Tennis Academy, Virginia
"Simply wonderful. The Tennis instruction was great, informative and fun. The lodging was very comfortable and we could walk to the Tennis facility which was outstanding!"—C.R., Low Int., March 2019
  • 4½-Ball Rating Horseshoe Bay Resort, Texas
"Michelle Stallard and her team put on a first class camp! Everyone leaves the courts with a smile and some new tactical knowledge!"—J.G., Adv., March 2019
