Here's what others have had to say about Naples Tennis Club & Resort (Closed).
"The staff was great! They went out of their way to accommodate our requests. The courts are in great shape. The clinics are well run. My only complaint would be that they are open to all levels and people are not necessarily separated when on different levels. We would definitely go back."—J.D., Int., March 2010
"The program of Sanchez Casals was evident and enthusiastically followed by our 2 instructors. My wife and I attended the program over Easter. My wife is a 3.5 and I am 4.5. We were on the court together to drill which I thought I would dread but the program allows for this.
The program strength was its emphasis on footwork and drills that can be used as a component of game play. The pros picked up on poor habits and corrected them quickly but stayed focused on the program. The program builds from a game play defensive position to winning the point. The weaknesses I could not pick up.
My wife and I are avid middle aged players who want to work hard to improve our games. This camp is what I think Bolliteri and saddlebrook have lost over the last few years. If you like to work this program is it but we would recommend staying nearer the beach rather than on the resort as it is tired."—J.L., Adv., April 2009
"Was here in Jan. 2009 with 3 of my tennis buddies. We are 3.5 USTA. We did the 10 hour Silver Adult program over 3 days. 4 hours for 2 days and 2 hours one day. We also played among ourselves for a few extra hours each day. Had Bill Beverly as an instructor and he was terrific. Improved our games without making major changes. Stayed onsite which was very convenient. Used the pool and hot tub."—M.H., Int., January 2009
"The instruction provided was excellent . That said you must be sure to check what level of players will be available when you are coming . As a 4.5 I could not even get one match scheduled as there was a Seniors tournament being held and no other players were available. I was amazed that they couldn't even get a local member of that level ."—S.B., Adv. Int., August 2008
"My two children have been to the other major Florida resort programs, but by far the SC instruction is the best I've seen. Great ratio, and plenty of 1 on 1 instruction. All coaches had something unique to offer. Great technical and match coaching. Great students from all over the world. Not a place to goof off. Work ethic was stressed, but the kids all had fun. Will definitely return. Naples is great and facility is beautiful"—B.P., July 2008
""—A.G., Int., April 2008
"This facility is simply beautiful. Well kept, and groomed har-tru courts. Have not been there since the Sanchez folks have arrived with the world class training program but I hear good things."—R.K., Adv., April 2008
"Wonderful facility. Great game matching. You can play as much as you like even if you don't bring partners. Plenty of har-tru courts. Exhibitions, socials, clinics, you name it. Highly recommend it for tennis buffs."—P.J., Int., January 2008
"We decided at the last minute to attend tennis camp/ mornings and stay at the resort. our condo was very old and dated/ rugs and windows were dirty. bedding old....
after attending one a.m. session our daughter pulled out for private lessons...there were no high school age kids during the xmas session. We definitely would not return to this resort."—A.H., Int., January 2008
"I hope I can truly express what a wonderful tennis camp this is. Curly runs an excellent program. Everything runs efficiently and it’s continuous action. The sessions are full of fun, learning and hitting. It ends too soon and it doesn’t seem like you were out on the court for 2 ½ hours. There are plenty of Gatorade on ice to get you through the sweat and hard work. The staff is very friendly and knows what they’re talking about. Larry was mainly my pro. He is energetic, encouraging, funny and a very good pro. He made sure our feet were constantly moving. After Curly finishes his administrative duties, he would sometimes get on a court and teach. Curly would miracously get you to hit a stroke well. Curly also goes over your videotaping in a one to one session so there is no down time for anyone. Besides analyzing your strokes, pictures of the correct way of hitting are also shown. The morning session ends with lunch waiting for you. To me, this was a valuable camp experience. Having been here and done it, I would repeat the experience."—S.M., Int., April 2007
"Naples Bath and Tennis club has and outstanding tennis program that hasn't fully been discovered. It caters to tennis players of all levels but is extremely gratifying for the serious tennis player who desires to improved their game. Curly Davis is an exceptional teacher whose years of experience allows him to improve anyone's game. This is a must experience camp for all of those players wanting to move there game to the next level."—A.A., Adv., April 2007
CLOSED; however the Curly Davis International Tennis Camp is being staged there. Just be aware that there neither the main clubhouse, its restaurant, or the swimming pool are open.
