 Couples Swept Away in Negril caters to adult vacationers looking for an active vacation, tennis players chief among them. The resort accepts couples and singles, putting them up in 134 verandahed rooms and 72 new suites scattered through a 20-acre garden that borders a seven-mile-long ribbon of soft white sand. Everything at the resort is included in the price, from lodging and meals to drinks, fitness classes, and a wealth of recreation, including golf, watersports, aerobics classes, scuba diving and, of course, tennis.
When it comes to tennis, that means clinics for all levels of players and a round robin tournament every day from Monday through Friday on the resort's 10 lighted hard and clay courts. There are four local PTR-certified pros on staff, among them Brenton White, Steve Beckford, and Hopeton McPherson, all of whom have 20 or more years of teaching experience. They're available for private lessons (included in the all-inclusive price). In addition, during most weeks, Swept Away takes the uncommon step of bringing in a visiting pro from the U.S. or abroad to run the clinics and share his expertise, and each year in January they run a Fantasy week with several well-known touring pros. Tennis may be one of more than a dozen activities, but it commands more attention and lures more guests than any of its rivals.

"My wife and I visited Couples Swept Away for the 7th time this March. We will be going back in November or December. The value for money for either a tennis vacation or a non-tennis vacation is unsurpassed in our opinion. They have 3 local pros who will hit with you every day if you're up to it. The visiting pro this time was Marty Johnson from Minneapolis who is an outstanding teacher.
 The resort is a little bigger than when Roger reviewed it as I believe ther are about 300 rooms now. It is big enough that the beach is never crowded and with the 3 local pros, you can have a good hit just about any time of the day 7 days a week. The evening round robins are always fun but the quality of the play is dependant on how many tennis addicts are vacationing that week.
In any case the morning clinics with the visiting pro are always educational, fun and wear off some the calories from the good food and drink. It's a Couples Resort, so it's not a true tennis camp but for someone who wants to play some tennis, meet some people and have a really enjoyable vacation, it's just fine."—J.F., Adv. "The tennis program is very basic, as the resort didn't really have any tennis players while I was there, during July 2007. They have a visiting "Pro" every week or so and I use the word "Pro" very loosely. I'm a former 4.5 player, now closer to a strong 4.0 (age will do that you) and because there were very few other tennis players there, I played the "pro" 3 or 4 times and basically had to slow my game down for him.
