The 400-room Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa stands on the mainland side of the Intracoastal Waterway, not far from the causeway 
to Sanibel Island. This collection of 12-story hotel and condo towers on 85 acres has a different scale from resorts on the islands, yet it has some of the same feel. A boardwalk from the main tower leads through a mangrove swamp to an expansive fitness center and full-service spa notable for its lengthy menu of services, among them a BETAR bed, said to induce relaxation through sound and music.
Two Davis Cup ties, in 1989 and 1992, took place there (though the stadium court on the roof of the spa is no longer used). Tennis director Ninka Salopek, who played for clubs in her native Croatia, oversees a handsomely designed complex of five Har-Tru courts set amid the mangroves. "I was too nice to do well as a competitor," she quips, but her demeanor—at once energetic, enthusiastic, and patient—wins her rave reviews, whether working with adults or children. The weekly roster includes a daily adult clinic and a half-hour kids clinic, and she supplements that by matching guests with members or local players.
Beach. Although there is a narrow, unappealing beach at the property, guests instead mostly hop a complimentary shuttle to the beaches on Sanibel Island just across the way.
Spa & Fitness Center. the 40,000-square-foot spa has 28 treatment rooms, an indoor swimming pool, and an extensive selection of workout equipment.
