The Guide To Taking Your Tennis Racquet On the Road

Since 1999, Tennis Resorts Online has been helping vacationers decide where to go on their next tennis holiday. I've made a career of giving such advice, initially as Tennis magazine's travel and resorts editor and since 1999 as the founder of this website. What you see here are not paid listings but the descriptions—provided without cost to resorts and camps—of those properties I feel are worthy of your attention. Over the course of several decades, I've visited more than 350 resorts on five continents and participated in some 50 different tennis camps, many more than once. It is that personal experience—supplemented now by reviews submitted by vacationers like you—that underpins this website.

What you'll find on these and the following pages is a suite of tools to help you make an informed choice on where to go. Start by checking out the rankings of the Top 100 Tennnis Resorts and Camps, which we base solely on the reviews submitted by people like you. For more personal advice, use the "Tailored Search" form that lets you specifiy precisely the features you're looking for in a resort or camp. Those results link to my personal descriptions, which are supplemented by the reviews—good or bad—of others who themselves have been there. There are also maps of what can be found in six different regions of the U.S. and one for Europe. Every property we list appears in a master index, listing both alphabetically and by state, region, or country. There is also a section devoted to junior camps, though since I'm a little old to participate in any of those I've had to settle for writing a description and let those juniors who've attended or their parents write personal reviews. To supplement all of this I've included a calendar of events taking place at tennis properties across the globe. We also ask resorts or camps to put together packages that offer special discounts or perks to Tennis Resorts Online readers.

Still, the site needs your input. We want to hear from you about your experience with any resort or camp you know first hand. As an incentive to take the trouble, Tennis Resorts Online gives away several tennis vacations in an annual drawing (2017 prizes to be announced soon). Every review you submit gives you another opportunity to win. To file one for a resort or camp, visit "Write a Review" or "Review a Junior Camp". Finally, let me know of ways you feel the site can be improved (and since we've just gone through a major redesign, please also let me know if there are any technical issues with any of the pages). You can contact me at . See you on the courts. —Roger Cox, Editor

Your Recent Reviews

Every time you review a resort or camp you know first hand, you're automatically entered in a drawing for one of several tennis vacations we give away each year. If you review a resort or camp between now and Apr. 30, 2016, you' be eligible to win a holiday at Saddlebrook International Tennis and Cliff Drysdale Tennis at Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, both in Florida, and New England Tennis Holidays at Sugarbush, in Vermont. If you rated a junior camp, you're in the pool for a week-long junior camp at Saddlebrook Junior Tennis.
Here's a sample of recent critiques of resorts and camps by other vacationers, followed by a link where you can post your own.

  • 4½-Ball Rating VitalHotel Wolfgangsee Nature Spa & Tennis Resort, Austria
"Absolutely stunning location, easy walk down to the beautiful village on the lake. Coaches are amazingly friendly and take great care to ensure everyone is included. Cuisine is suoerb, with an amazing array of food and events in the evenings - the Saturday Night in the kitchen is a winner. This is family rin, and has been for many uears and it shows. It is friendly, welcoming, helpful but above all a place full of people wanting you to emjoy yourself. Can't wait to return. Great for singles, couples, friends, groups and families alike, a plethora of things to do if wanting a rest from tennis or with others with different interests."—S.H., Adv. Int., February 2017
  • 4-Ball Rating Academia Sanchez-Casal Florida, Florida
"Sanchez-Casal probably has more available har-tru tennis courts than any other club in the nation. In my entire visit, I never had difficulty reserving a court, even at the last moment, early in the morning. It is ideal for a tennis retreat among friends. The pool, gym, and health club are also nice. The only possible disadvantage is the refusal of many of the condo owners to rent for less than two weeks. The condos are generally attractive and spacious ---- at least the few we saw, but they are seldom rentable. It is necessary most of the time to find a place outside (and they do exist at affordable rates)"—M.G., Adv. Int., March 2017
  • 4-Ball Rating Hawk's Cay Resort, Florida
"Well rounded daily clinics that focus on all shots over a weekly rotation. Had some locals attend the clinics, resulting in opportunities to focus on doubles drills, which is what I wanted to spend time on. The Pro, Hannah Thompson, is very knowledgable about all the strokes and helped me improve my slice serve and service returns. Only downside was it rained frequently everyday I was there in late October. But Hannah worked with my schedule and we got all of the clinics & lessons in that I wanted."—R.A., Int., October 2016
  • 4½-Ball Rating Four Seasons Resort Nevis, Nevis, West Indies
"We had a fantastic holiday at the Four Seasons, Nevis, our first time on the island and will indeed be back! A stunning holiday destination, we felt extremely relaxed throughout and had such fun. I must mention in particular the tennis facilities were phenomenal, we are a keen family for tennis and were thrilled with what was to offer. I can safely say this is one of the best tennis resorts that we've been to (and we've been to a fair few!) The courts were in great condition (both the hard courts and the clay, was very impresssd with the wide selection you could choose from) The tennis pro Nicola was excellent and needs a huge mention, you should be very proud to have such a wonderful tennis pro on your team, a huge credit to you and your company. Nicola was friendly, kind, encouraging, a fantastic, strong player who was always able to adapt to whoever she was playing with in our family. We all learnt something new from Nicola and am very thankful that my children were able to have her as a teacher. She provided a high level of technical teaching with such enthusiasm. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening sessions where we mixed with others, was great fun, well run and a great way to learn more. Many thanks to the tennis pros, they are doing a fantastic job and will surely reccomend the tennis in particular in regards to the four seasons!"—S.M., Int., February 2017
